I am usually quite the Fender snob. I usually avoid the squiers. Until I saw this neck on the 'Bay.Look at that grain. Is it normal for Squier Standards,to have such nice necks?

Mine looks sort of like that, only it's yellowed a bit from age.

My 2006 Squier Standard Strat looks nice, but not that nice.

On the contrary,I think thats very nice. You can see some beauty grain. I just never expected the kind of woods like your and My necks. On a "budget" guitar line. Wild

I must admit it does look REALLY atractive, maybe it was a MIM and they scratched the logo off and put a squier one (could be possible) :D

No, it's natural. It's nine years old now and before I got it it was a rental and so it wasn't really taken care of. I doubt that the people before me even put it in a case.

I don't have a picture just of the headstock, but here's one with it along side my MIM Standard and my Peavey bass.

http://api.ning.com/files/zsJ-CszbDl6ETVHYyDxw*8hM3jcFH4lq3iVUG-r1r8XEpo1HYhQ9zqZ6zXZwhTusWCgbnNq-1M2uTqIvE3xAMPkJBEYH2eim/100_2054.JPG

It's on the far left side. It's about the same age as the bass, so the headstocks of both are about the same color. The MIM on the far right is four years younger, and as you can see it's headstock is lighter.

Very nice tangential. Not sure of the normality, but the 00' I have is birdseye maple in just the right places and radial on the backside of the headstock and neck. It's the one that sold me on Squiers. Also have an 01' (tsb) that's simply unbelievable. I don't know what was going on in the IC plant at the time, but I'm convinced.

You wouldn't get a bit of wood that pretty on an MIM!!

On the subject, my Classic vibe 50's pbass has a stunning neck with a single birds eye on the headstock ball - classy!

Are those staggered tuners or is it just the camera angle?

I was just on ebay and did a search for Stagemaster Guitars. Check out the neck on this one!! I honestly wouldn't have expected to see a neck this beautiful on a Squier myself. My Strat Plus neck wasn't even this awesome. I had to do a double take.. Just look at that grain!

Wow... very nice

the grain on the headstock of my affinity doesnt look nearly as nice as what you got there, but its still has some nice grain.

but i did notice some light "flame" of the maple all the way down the back of my neck, it's slight, but it is noticable, and it looks great.

i thought flamed maple was reserved for high end fenders and custom shop, and i found some on a squier...

i do suppose anything is possible.
