Alright so, I've been looking for a pickguard for this Squier.

I'm not sure how to go about finding the correct one. The guitar body has 9-holes in it for the PG. When you look at the body, it looks more similar to an Ibanez, but not quite. I have an RG and the wings of an RG spans wider than this guitar.

Is this a different body with a Squier neck attached to it? Or did Squier actually make this body? Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

I know back in the day Squire was part of Ibanez I think (or used Ibanez parts). They were using some of the same parts. It could be that is is a body produced in the Ibanez plant. I would take it to a guitar shop and see if they can help you find a pick guard for it. Except the routing for a pickguard, the body looks a lot like my old Squire HMIII. I did have a different looking neck on mine. This could be an older model that what mine was.

That actually makes a lot of sense. I did call fender about it. They said that the HM series didn't come with pickguards. But I do see them on ebay with pickguards here and there.

I did tell the guy on the phone that it looks more like an Ibanez. If you look in the pics, you'll see that the round-over is really sharp. Even the HM's that I've seen had more of a 1/4 round. But the cavities on the back and the neck plate and attachment design are identical to an HM, not an Ibanez.

I think you might be correct on this.

The neck is also shaped very much like an Ibanez Wizard neck, but with a Fender pitch in the headstock. Not such a heavy pitch like a Wizard.

Thanks for the response man. It's an interesting fact to know. Kind of a cool, strange hybrid thing. I knew I wasn't going completely crazy. Hahaha.
