Hi folks- long time lurker, first time poster. I have been a Gibson man for 40+ years, but a month or so ago I wanted to get an inexpensive guitar I could leave at my office and not worry too much about. I picked up a used Squier Deluxe Strat (Quilted Maple top) for $85. Whoah- I love this thing! Besides the fact that it was immaculate, it plays easy, sounds great, and now I've decided that it would look even nicer with gold hardware. After all this long-windedness, my question is; Regarding Tuners and the Tremolo bridge assembly, what are the chances that I can find these parts in gold and not have to redrill or make any changes to the guitar? I've seen after market parts that say they will fit American Fender Strats or nay Strat style guitar. True or hype? Help!

I don't think you are going to find the same drill pattern in any other brand. Try calling Stewmac. Maybe they have ideas.

If you take the tuners apart maybe you can have them rechromed. It is just a cap with a gear and shaft setup like a classical guitar. They are not sealed.

Try your local auto body shop see if they know of a place that chromes. Maybe even a motorcycle shop since they would probably handle small parts.

Hope this helps,

Send these guys an email and ask about their stuff. I have a set of their hot pups in one of my standards and they're great. Good parts and service.

Hey guys, thanks for the sources. I emailed both and have not gotten a reply yet. However, I have gotten all the parts I needed from Ebay, and with the exception of the tuners, every part fit without any modifications. The tuners have the small offset anchor screw and I will need to drill for that. The only part left to get is the plastic trem back cover. This may be the toughest, as the size is almost 1/4" bigger than the Fender ones.
