Post subject: painting my strat.

i have a 2001 squire ive sanded down im guessing its ash wood or somthing like that and i just want to keep it a natural wood colorbut make it darker what kind of coat or finish will i need and how do i do it?

Depending on the model, it's most likely either basswood or alder. Usually a magohany-colored stain would be darker.

after i stain it what kind of finish do i need to use to make it look glossy or like a professional guitar?

Usually some type of laquer or clear coat. That's about where my knowledge stops in painting. You should try posting this in the lounge, guys like Ceri and Nikininja are pros with this.
