All good choices...play a bunch of guitars, have a blast, and buy the one YOU like the best.

I was sort of going through the same scenario when I was figuring out which precision bass to get. I decided on the Classic Vibe Squire because of research on these forums and other places and I couldn't believe the quality of the CV. The hardware is not substandard and the finishing on the fretwork is amazing. I did find a standard Fender for a decent price and I ended up purchasing that as well a little later. I'm glad I have the Fender, but if I could only choose between the 2, I would pick the CV Squire. Honest!

My next purchase is going to be a classic vibe series Strat. I'm just not sure if I want the 50's or 60's! In case you didn't see, they released a few new colors last week.

Good luck!

Play all 3 of them. Pick the one that sounds best to you, feels best to you, and talks to you. Disregard the name.

Those are all really nice guitars. The benefit of the Squiers is that they'll leave you with some money left over as opposed to the MIM. But then again, I love inexpensive guitars.

+1 = 2

I have played some Squiers that felt like Fenders and Fenders that felt like Squiers  , so just go out there and try as many as you like, and eventually at least one won't let you put it down...

I'm 36 and have been playing for 21 years. I have an American Strat, used to have an American Telecaster, have a Squier Deluxe Strat, and a Squire Standard Telecaster.

I play live at church every week. Guess which one I play most... The Squier Telecaster. For me it has the most comfortable neck and therefore I make the fewest mistakes.

However, my made in U.S. Strat gets all of the "oohs" from the teenage guys that are into guitar.

My advice is buy the one that is most comfortable and feels natural when you play it. If you're worried about what others think then buy a "real" Fender.

Guess what... No matter what you get there will be those to disparage it. Even if you get a Fender American Standard, then some people will say it's not the right year, or has the right pickups, or whatever.

Oh, I also play through a humble Fender solid state amp that I got on sale for $250. I don't have a pre-CBS tube amp, so I guess I'm not cool and my tone is lame.

Agreed. I know a guy who won't consider any gear unless its the same brand Zakk Wylde or Dimebag uses or used...Seriously...He thinks my Squiers are "country music" guitars...If only he realized his beloved Zakk and Dimebag listened to and idolized several country guitarists through the years

In cases like that I think that the person has moved beyond being a fan of the music and is actually worshipping the other person.

I was like that with Jimmy Page 20 years ago. I wished and saved and begged and scrimped until I could buy a Gibson Les Paul. The whole time my older and wiser friend was telling me "they're really heavy." Well I finally got my Les Paul so I could be like Jimmy Page and sold it about two years later because it was too heavy (for me).

There are plenty of people who can play a LP comfortably, but I'm not one of them so I finally learned to play what actually suits me and not what others are playing.

I agree with most the reply's. What fits you. I have a Squire Strat, a Squire Custom Tete, & an American Standard HHS Strat. I love them all the same for diffferant reasons. They are all comfortable to play (for me) and not a speck of trouble from any of them. So go with which one fits your style, your hand and your budget.

Play all three. See which one you like. I went out last weekend looking for a Fender MIM Standard. I played a lot of them, I also played a lot of Squires. I bought the Classic Vibe 60's and it is awesome.

I also have a Fender Highway 1 Stratocaster and the Classic Vibe is a great #2 guitar for me.
