Hey guys, I've been lookin around for a new guitar and the thinline stood out to me. I want to get it, but a lot of people have told me that Squiers tend to fall apart. Have any of you guys had this guitar for a while? I'd love to buy it. Will it last a long time?

These guitars are a fabulous buy. The maple neck on mine even has some nice figuring in it. Construction is very solid. The alder body is very resonant with nice tones. The tuners and fretwork are as good as my Fender MIM Strat (which is high praise). The shoreline gold color is an exclusive upscale color. Considering how cheap it is, the guitar is amazing. The only negative to me was the DD pickups. I just was not too crazy about them (so I swapped them out for some Fender MIA Std pups from eBay). Even the setup out of the box was perfect (much better than my Strat).

Whoever told you that should probably be slapped. The newer Squiers are really nice. I've played the Thinline and I love that guitar. Sounds great and plays fantastic. 01GT is right about the pick ups, they're not bad, but not for everyone. Dollar for dollar, it's a really nice and well made guitar. Check out the reviews on musiciansfriend.com. Some people are saying it's better than the MIM Fender Thinline... if that helps out your decision at all. :D
Take care of it and it'll last, but more importantly, if you like it, and it "speaks to you", get it.

All Right guys! Thanks. I am going to buy that guitar now, and I may switch out the pickups if I dont like the originals. I have another question though: What genres do you guys play? I know a lot of people use thinlines for Jazz and Country/Blues, but I play alternative and rock. Are these guitars versatile genre-wise?

Hey ziger! Welcome to the forum. Squier Guitars, especially the Standard, Deluxe, Vintage Modified, and Classic Vibe series, are very nice guitars that offer tremendous value for the money. I have a Squier Standard Strat, and I think it plays at least as well as a MIM Fender. The workmanship and quality are excellent. So don't be afraid of the Squier label. Buy your Tele and have fun! 8)

Hi guys -

Just wanted to say I just picked up my second VM Thinline Tele. I got Shoreline Gold again. I love the necks on these. I hope the thin necks will hold up over time.

Question. Why do some necks have the rosewood stripe and others don't? Has anybody here ever seen this 24.75" neck sold separately on eBay? I'd like to pick one up but have not ever seen one.

Play on!
