I was going to give my daughter my strat but my wife sadi to just keep it so I want to mod it but I've never done any mods before. Any suggestions? I am good with a sodering iron and I am not afraid to tackle any tasks so what should I do? I know that I am going to order all my parts I can from Guitar Fetish because there prices are great and they are highly recommended in the Epiphone forums. I want to go with vintage pickups and a prewired pickguard. The volume knob feels like it doesn't stop where its sup[posed to it has a little bit o drag to it when you get to where it should stop. Also the tuners need replaced but I got the guitar for 50 bucks so I don't want to dump 200.00 into this thing. Can anyone recommend a good set of tuners for cheap? Thanks for all your help everyone!

If your good with soldering then why get a pre wired?

get some of the GFS premium 2 alnico 2 pups, wire it in, change out the tuners and maybe the gaurd if you want.

the possibilities are endless, keep us updated!

If it's not obvious what needs changing, then does anything need to be changed??

I'd snag one of those GFS loaded pickguards. They're like $35, and you're guitar will look and sound better. Just checking out GFS alone will help though.

Most of them won't fit right. Check out guitarfetish.com, with their prices, you'll find something you'll like.

The necks will fit, but they need to be doweled and redrilled. The measurements are all the same.

I don't know about the other Squier Affinity owner's guitars, but on my Squier Affinity it looks like the body wood is made up of several pieces of alder, and this is obvious even through the dark black finish. I couldn't get myself to put money into such a guitar, especially when the local music shop has some niiiice new Fender/Squier guitars for under $300.00. Just my .02
