I just put Fender Noiseless pickups in a standard strat I just got. It's a 2005 model. I had spare parts from two other Squier strats I have already upgraded. Funny thing is, the pickup covers are not interchangable from one Squier Standard to the other. I thought that odd.

The 5-way switch was really different. The one in my 2005 guitar was huge and shaped like a Fender switch, but definitely not one. The others were all like the switches used by Carvin. I replaced them with Fender 5-way switches.

The pots were also of a cheaper appearance and feel. I was surprised at the drastic change from the Squiers I have from 2002 and 2003, and the one I just got dated 2005.

It's probably because they are made in different countries. I'm glad you got to swap your parts anyway and remember Eddie Van Halen cut his pickguard out himself so don't feel too bad adapting parts.

I had the same problem with a Stew Mac pickguard that came prewired. When I bought an original three ply I had to redrill. Never came out too flat and the humbuckers I added didn't help but whatever.

I'm tearing the old pickups apart that I replaced and changing the poles with Alinco magnets. Don't know if it will work but that is the fun part.

Sad thing is, I already have more invested in this guitar than Eddie had invested in his Frankenstrat when he first put it together.

You were right about my guitars being made in different countries. This Stardard is made in China, and my other two Standards are made in Indonesia.

Wow, they make them everywhere now. Someone should put together a buyers guide on these guitars going back to day one with specs and info.

I think they have one for the Standard Strats but it is more historical. Don't know how detailed it gets.

Enjoy your Frankenstein,
