Thanks for any help in advance. I have a Squier nut that I'd like to polish up, but, when it comes to the slots, is there a certain tool you use? I have 1000 gauge sandpaper, and I was thinking to maybe wrap that around a toothpick to polish the nut slot bottoms.

Anyone have any techniques?

If you mean polish just so it looks good, why bother? The only time your nut slot will be exposed is when you are restringing. If you mean polish to reduce friction between the nut slot and the string, as mentioned above, graphite. When re-stringing, just use a pencil "write" in the nut slot.
