I'm looking at possibly getting the Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Custom. I've been wanting a humbucker guitar, but I don't want to leave the Fender family. Does anyone here have one of these? What do you think of it?

The reviews seem pretty positive. I've been looking at the custom II. I like the dual P90's.

Hi Darkly! I'm intrigued by the P-90s, but I'm looking for the L*s P**l sound without defecting to the dark side. I wonder how close this Tele will come to that. Of course, I realize that the earliest LPs did come with P-90s, but I prefer the classic humbucker sound. Along with my Strat and Jazzmaster, I think that would give me some nice variety in my sonic palette. 8)

Funny you should mention the L-- P---'s. I've noticed a lot of musicians who normally play them have been switching over to the Tele Deluxe and Customs. Plus, the custom is such a heafty beast, from my ears, they're quite close in comparison. Sound-wise at least.

Odd isn't it.

The P-90 in the neck is great but not so much in the bridge IMO. I prefer a full HB there. I rerouted my 77 LP special (2 p-90's) so I could fit a full size HB in the bridge position. I put in a JB and it really improved the guitar. The middle position is sweet. Gibson came out with their BFG

Right concept but not very pretty. A tele with this config would be nice.

BFG=Fail!

I like the P90 and Humbucker combo. I've been wanting to do one for a while, but never really had the proper platform. That new SD p90-humbucker would be a great option.

Oh, Racehorse, luckily this axe only went up $30, if you're still contemplating.

I've been thinking about getting this Guitar but nobody has really answered the original question above and have instead gone into discussions about what they would like on their Guitar in terms of pickups instead of what is on this guitar if you buy one.

Without changing anything or hoping for anything on this Guitar, is this Guitar going to be a good buy?

I used to have a standard 1998 Squier Tele and i'm hoping that this one is at least a step up.

I now have a MIM Fender Deluxe Stratocaster and without spending a small fortune on a good backup, i need to know if it's good as I will probably buy it online as none of my local shops have it. It's kind of going to be a leap of faith as i may buy it without playing it.

You can obviously guess it's a good value and a step up. From what I've read, it is a great guitar, however, the only way to really find out is to play one yourself. I haven't seen one at any stores, but I've played the Squier thinline Tele, and was very impressed. If it's anything like that in quality, sound, and playability, I'd bet it's worth it.

In all honesty, I bought my Squier P-bass, without playing it first. (I tried others out, not the exact model I bought.) I wasn't disapointed at all. I love it. It sounds great, plays amazing, and the quality is fantastic. It felt like a deluxe MIM. So if you can't play one, try and get a good feel for the reviews. :D

I got one of the Squier Custom Teles with the 2HBs. I like it a lot, though unfortunately, it doesn't get as much love as it should as I have a hard time rototating between over a dozen guitars...

I have one and love it. I'm gonna use it this Saturday on a gig. And yes, I do own some Fenders.

Besides the obvious dual humbucker setup is the seperate volume and tone controls for each pickup. I like ithat a lot and since it is much lighter than my L%$ P*&# clone it saves me a lot of neck and shoulder pain. As for sound I always go with the idea that each of us hears things differently.

I highly recommend this guitar!

Congrats on what I believe is a fine guitar. As with any new guitar you should have a good professional setup done before really deciding whether or not it is a keeper.

Keep us updated on your new axe!

Well Guys, here it is!!!!!

Just arrived this morning all the way from Germany.

It's a beautifully balanced Guitar with really nice action. There's lovely warm tone as well. The maple neck is not as well finshed as my MIM Stratocaster and the volume and tone knobs are a little cheap looking and I might change these but otherwise, it's the best €182 i've spent in a while.
