i PURCHASED A SQUIR STRAT AND WHEN I WAS PLAYING IN MY BAND IT WOULD JUST FEED BACK.

I COULD NOT TAKE IT SO I PUT REAL STRAT PICKUPS IN IT AND IT IS AMAZING.

SO WHEN YOU BY THIS GUITAR DONT USE IT FOR PLAYING IN A BAND

FEEDBACK CAN BE THE RESULT OF MANY THINGS.

I HAVE 7 SQUIERS, ALL STOCK, NO FEEDBACK ISSUES WITH REAL BANDS OR FAKE BANDS. THEY ARE AMAZING STOCK.

WHEN YOU POST ON THIS FORUM, PLEASE TURN OFF CAPS LOCK, AND YOU DON'T NEED TO PRINT IN BOLD, MOST OF US CAN READ THE FORUM FINE AS IS.

I AM JUST TRYING TO POINT OUT HOW ANNOYING IT IS TO HAVE TO READ SOMETHING IN ALL CAPS THAT DOESN'T NECESSARILY NEED TO BE IN ALL CAPS.

SO PLEASE SAVE ALL CAPS FOR SOMETHING IMPORTANT.

Feedback is caused by a combination of things. "Hot Rodded" guitars will feedback too in the right scenario.

You probably had a grounding issue. If you installed humbuckers that would have helped the problem but your guitar's stock wiring probably needs better grounding or shielding. Try gluing aluminum foil inside the body cavity next time. Stewmac sells expensive paints for that purpose. It could even be as simple as a faulty jack. Mine wore out and I replaced it with an aftermarket that never really fit. I had to cut part of it to get it in the cavity. Its always coming loose and a mess.

Also some people change out the caps for mylar or other materials for better sound. Even cheap pots can be troublesome and well worth the investment of getting quality parts. Especially if you EVH the volume a lot.

I tried replaceing the jack and I completly rewired the whole guitar. I think they were just cheap pick ups

I think the concensus is defective and it would probably be a more politically correct way of stating that considering you are on the manufacturers forum :)

I'm glad you got yourself some better pickups. They can dramatically change the sound of a guitar. Even on the higher priced standard strats.

Maybe next time you can try building and potting your own with some Stewmac parts. I have yet to test my rebuilt ones. I took the easy way out and just replaced the magnets with Alinco.
