:?
So I am torn ........should I pick up the damned DuoSonic 50's vibe?
I always have this sick tendency to obsess about these things and I am stuck.
If I picked one up I would probably customize it, ( anyone who is familiar w/ my custom Cyclone and Strat posts understands).
I have my mouse pointer on the BuyItNow button for the Duo Sonic, or I could get my Fernandes Sustainer. If I get the Sustainer I would then have to decide what guitar gets cut up for that.

Personally, I'd get the Duo Sonic as well. I remember when Fernandes Sustainers came out in the 90s, and honestly, I didn't realize they still made them

How much does a Fernandez go for?

You probably made the better choice.

There is just so much you can do with an effect.

EVH's latest video claims he never used effects. It was the guitars and amps. I don't believe him but there is a lot to be said for a great guitar and amp.

Fernandes is almost the same cost as the Duo sonic. I will have to sit down and plan it out a bit. I may put the sustainer in the duosonic....
Or something else.

To me, when it comes down to a guitar or a gimmick, I'll go with the guitar every time.

Gimmick? How so ?
It looks like fun to me, I already bought the guitar.
But I am curious about the sustainer.

When I say, "gimmick", I refer to the Sustainer. Granted, it could be lots of fun for some. But to me, it's an unnatural device for a guitar. I guess it's because I'm an old fart, too set in my ways and am from the old, "Plug Straight In and Play School". Believe it or not, I never even used pedals (save for a wah-wah back in the 60s). And honestly, I don't even know what most of them are for! Yes, I'm old.

Oh come on man.....you're only as old as you feel.
I'm pretty old school in my playing, I stick to the distortion and wahs as well. I just like to tinker w/ the guitars and customize some of my guitars like they were hot rods.
I agree it may seem a bit unatural, it has peeked my interest. I just hope it isn''t one of those fleeting guitar toys, if it is ; I would rather use the bread to add better pickups instead of the sustainer.

See, if it was me, I'd go for the better pickups in a heart beat!
