From what I gather it is a pretty accurate reissue if the original.
I plan on picking one up this year. If you go into the products list and slide go over to the Squier site it shows all of the features and some nice pictures. Since I usually customize a lot of my guitars, I will probably swap out the pickups for something more.

I hear SeymourDuncan has some reissues that will fit, or just to keep w/ the vintage vibe throw some actual vintage Mustang pups in.
I know it may sound goofy to some but the mojo would be over the top.
But sure, Mustang pups would fit nicely.
My main concern would obviously be the sound, I am a total ToneChaser.
Squier has some great designs, but some times the pick ups are just terrible. When I say sometimes I mean SOMETIMES. I really don't want to knock them all. The designs they have been doing latley have been awesome w/ the retro feel. But like I said the pups are usually the first thing to go, then maybe the tuners.
I think I may leave in the Plastic buttons on the DuoSonic though.
Hopefully they arent just there for looks.

My first guitar was a DuoSonic I played into the ground. I miss it (it went back to my uncle who still has it after lending it to me). When I saw one at the music store just recently, I almost fell over. Except for not having a red body, it looked just like my old one from so long ago. It played well (probably better than my original one). It is a nice git. I am still contemplating getting one for nolstagic reasons. Pretty cool.

I was stuck at the music store for half a hour a couple of months ago because it was raining really hard and flooding, so I took the time to play the duo sonic. I really, really liked it. Not as much as my Strat, but I wouldn't mind having one.

I played one today and was surprised at how good the pickups sounded. I played it through an FM65DSP. If I buy one I wouldn't swap out the pickups. I like the guitar as is, except for the color. I also played the Tele and 50s Strat. They all sounded great through that amp. I'm one of those people that don't swap pickups out unless it REALLY needs it though.
