I have a Squier as my back up guitar, it serves its purpose.. Should be ok as a back up.

Ya, Squiers are good backups. Mine does its purpose. But if you have a choice a Fender is higher quality. 8)

I like Squier Standard Telecasters. The Vintage Modifieds are good too. And I hear nothing but great things about the Classic Vibes series Telecasters...the Affinity Teles even get some love on the net...Basically you cannot go wrong with a Squier Tele...
