One of the reasons you put a chrome-covered humbucker was after seeing a picture of Dave playing his "Black Strat" fitted with a Gibson humbucking pickup in the bridge.

Image

This mod was shortlived as the humbucker has been removed shortly afterwards.

Your guitar reminds me EC's "Christmascaster" and DG's #0001!

the fact it looks like dave gilmours 0001 is the main reason i got it, i dont paly well enough or have the finances (2.5k) for the fender signature, but i could stretch to this haha a well worthy investment, but i didnt realise eric clapton had one too

put the pics on photobucket, hover over the thumbnail, you will see four little yellow boxes, click in the yellow box next to IMG code it will automatically copy it, then just paste it into the text box when posting on a thread. bobs yer uncle, fannys yer aunt, your image will appear when you submit your message

Very nice thread indeed!
Here is my Squier strat.
It is Japan made with an Exxxxxx serial number.
According to Fender's database it was built in the mid eighties but I am not sure.
I bought it new in the early 90s.
The build quality and finish are excellent with old-style body routing for 3 single coil pups.
I have made several upgrades for ultimate playability, stability and reliability:
- Vintage noiseless pick-ups with cts 500k vol pot with treble bleed and 2x1 Meg tone pots
- Original Fender 5-way switch
- Schaller staggered locking tuners
- Schaller roller string tees
- Graphtech graphite bridge saddles
- Bone nut
- Vintage Mint pickguard and trem cover
- Aged white pot knobs and trem and switch tips
The Olympic white body color has turned into a subtle and nice creamy color over the years.
I own many guitars, but this one is my favourite. Will never give or sell it!
Looks great, plays smooth as butter, stays in tune, sounds like you would expect from a very good Stratocaster, with a lot of twang and quack :D
Now the picts:
