My newest Squier.. It's a 20th Ann. Bullet Special. I put in a Dimarzio Super Distortion, new Volume pot, Graph Tech saddles. I had an idea to make it Reggae colors since I play Reggae. I like the simplicity of the look, and it has a real nice feel and sound to it. It's a lot of fun to jam on.

Call me sick (I've been called worse), but I LOVE the look of this Telecaster. Tell me, bubbles_horwitz (if that IS your real name), did you do anything to loosen the finish, or just attack with the putty knife? Also, did you do anything AFTER it was stripped (sand it at all, seal it)?

Thanks in advance for any further details!

I got a new squier guitar yesterday and my dad "built" it himself! He took a Fender Squier Bullet Strat body/neck and completely replaced all of the electronics (Texas special pickups by the Fender Custom shop and more), tuners, tremolo bar, pick guard, nobs (aged-white), etc... It's a replica of Stevie Ray Vaughan's number 1 guitar!

It's an amazing guitar, it has a great blues sound!!

He was able to keep it a secret for about a couple weeks while he worked on it!

Here it is:

Custom pickups.

I believe it's a Standard with a natural finish and tortoiseshell pickguard.

Hi all,
Here is my new Squier, my former guitar was a Starcaster which I started to learn the guitar on. I have have to say 2 years on a Starcaster was well worth my time but I'm looking forward to playing on my new instrument.

Gotoh vintage style tuners
Tonerider single coil "pure vintage" pickups
1 meg, 500k pots
Bone nut
Mint green plastic

I have had this guitar for almost twenty years and have always been impressed with how it played and sounded. I've always had a bit of an inferiority complex because it wasn't a "real" Strat. I am glad to find this forum and know that this guitar is as good as I think it is.

I lost the trem bar, so the black one is an Ibanez and fits just fine. Can anyone help me identify the style of bridge and locking nut? This one stays in tune great and I like how the locking nut is back on the headstock away from the nut. I'd like to get another one for a project I just bought.

The only mod I've made is to remove one spring on the back. It makes the bridge float and still stay in tune.

Thanks and I appreciate any comments.

Hi CMack, and welcome to the forum! You shouldn't have an inferiority complex at all. That is an interesting and unusual instrument you have there. Japanese Squiers are generally very well respected around these parts. I've never seen one with a bridge like that--very, very cool. Thanks for posting! 8)

It looks like a Kahler to me.
As far as I found out, they were used on MIJ Contemporary Strats made 1985-1987.

Thanks for the comments. The bridge looks sort of like the Kalher, but the fine tuners on mine are vertical. I would really like to track this down and find another one. I like it for several reasons:

A - It stays in tune. As I posted, I took off a spring and made it float. I can work it pretty hard both ways and it still stays in tune.

B - It's recessed into the body. I kind of hate Floyd Rose trems because there is that huge hunk of metal hanging off the end of the guitar. This is pretty refined and sleek comparatively.

C - Easy to string. Regular old string through the bottom block. No phillips screws or Allen wrenches required.

D - Easy to change string height. Couple of turns on both sides and away you go. The tuning and intonation stays pretty true even with a big change.

This design is so good, I can't believe it's not more common. I took it back to the same dealer I bought it from to try and get a replacement whammy bar. No dice. Fender couldn't find the model number or whatever to get the right bar. We then went through trial and error and found that the Ibanez fit.
