Hi all!

I wanted to post an update about my Squier Stratocaster. I have recently done a good amount of modding on her and took some new pics...

2004 Squier Affinity – Gladys

I regret not taking progress photo’s of the mod work I did to Gladys. It was pretty involved and fun. It was very much a learning process, though, and I got so into the work that I didn’t think about pulling the camera out until I was tuning her up. For kicks, here is what I did to her:

- replaced the stock tuners with vintage style machines.
- treated the frets with 000 steel wool to smooth them
- replaced the one-ply white pick guard with the three-ply w/b/w one
- new Fender 5-way switch (the size of this switch compared to the one that came in the Squier requires some cavity Dremeling)
- all new pots – the Squier came with 50K pots (my guess is to compensate for to poor stock pickups) so I dropped down in the Stratocaster standard 25K pots
- replaced the stock pickups with Fender Tex-Mex pickups
- complete shield of the cavities under the pick guard
- I hand painted a silver inline to the Squier logo on the headstock – merely for looks and a little style…

I am still planning on replacing her nut and also adding a Fender tremelo soon.

Cheers!

Here's two of mine. The black one is a 1993 Korean made Squier that says "FENDER" on the head with "Squier Series" in small script near the end. The red one is a 1998 Made in Mexico Squier.
Both are great guitas.

Guys, check out my new guitar finish. What do you guys think?
It was metallic blue previously, then I paint it with Ivory color and the pickguard is Gold color.

My Squier Telecaster Custom as well as my Epiphone AJ200 and Ibanez AS73

Tele as she is now. Gonna take off all the stickers (from my dumber days), strip her down and paint her orange, put some Seymour Duncans in her and change the tuners

I also have a Squier 20th Anniversary Bullet that's due for new tuners, maybe a 70's neck/headstock and a DiMarzio PAF humbucker that I'll post pictures of later

Where did you find a Squire Hollowbody? It has to be a fake or am i missing something on the Squire site? I'd really like to have one of those if it sounds half as good as it looks it would be sweet.

Not a Fake. They actually made these in 2002 I think for a short time. They have one on ebay in black w/ flames. The blackw/ flames was called a "white heat", the blue with flames was called "blue heat" and were made in fewer numbers than the white heat or the other X-155's. The bodies were leftovers from when Dearmond was bought out by Fender.
If a guitar is discontiued they pull it off the site, but if you email Jeff Krause w/ customer relations he will send you the specs. He's a great guy to do so , I've bugged him several times before for my Squier VII (which is in the picture to it's lefthand side, I am still working on it), and Super Sonic Vista. You can also check out Harmony Central. And it sounds AWESOME!!! I wish they still made them.
