Hi all here is the '96 Super-Sonic I've been rambling about.
I paid $100 and threw in a Gibson Usa humbucker for her.
I took her apart last night and replaced the tremelo w/ a vintage MIA 60's reissue.
I recieved a spec sheet from Jeff Krause of Fender, Thanks Again Jeff!!!
I am torn, should I leave her all original or restore her?
Let me know What you all think.

Keep it original. It's a beauty with very small blemishes which ads character. Set it up and change the pickups if needed but everything else looks in pretty good shape.

It looks like a rare collectable with its slanted pickup opposite of EVH. Wonder what sound they were going for at the time. There are a lot of peculiarities about that guitar like the round neck joint. Must be comfortable.

I hope you had a chance to play it before you took it apart. I'd like to hear what it sounds like. I don't think this forum will load sound files.

Maybe we should all take Brad's offer at the Fender Lounge and set up MySpace pages so we can ad some sound to this forum until he can add that feature to the Fender Community. I saw a lot of talent from our members. I was also impressed by the custom shop videos. Although I will probably never own one I did learn a lot.

Check it out!

Great find BastardN. Enjoy and keep up the great work!

Change the color to a Surf green or sherwood green metalic. Just my opinion though. :)

I want to know how you found one for a $100? Everywhere I see them they seem to demand around four bills and up now. There's a black one at my local GC that I've been trying to haggle on and they won't move off of $499. There's a black one on e-bay right now for $350 but it's had some custom flames painted on which I think ruins its collection value. I would really like to have that black one I found and have a custom tortoiseshell pickguard made for it and slap some black P-90s in there. I could still keep the original PUs and pickguard so that if I wanted to sell, it would have its collectors value.

I saved her a from the wall.
I was doing some guitar tech work for a friend of mine and he mentioned he picked up an "ugly" "cheap" guitar that he planned to sand down and decorate for his girlfriend as a gift. I asked to see it, and had to have it.
There is NO way I was gonna let this beauty go to the wall. She is pretty beat up cosmetically and needs some love. So I made him and offer.
100$ and a Gibson USA humbucker. Yeah....I think it was a great deal and he was happy about it.
Being a Gibson guy he was totally not into the Squier thing.
I have seen the black one you are talking about on e-bay.
I need to replace the pickguard it's a bit beat up.
Not sure who to go for for that. E-bay has a bunch of custom pickguard shops.Honestly this one fell in my lap.
It was a fluke and I couldn't pass it up.
I wish you luck on snagging one.
The tortoise shell pick guard w/ the p-90's sounds pretty sweet.
