I wonder if the "scratch & dent" is also what returned items fall under? they never advertise a guitar as a "return". Could just be a guitar someone didn't bond with and returned. MF couldn't sell it as new at that point. Just a thought. Congrats on teh new guitar. Looks great. I love that deluxe.

I played this guitar, next to a deluxe Fat strat.
Both are gorgeous, the neck it´s so slick and easy to play!
I would prefer the Fat strat coming in Daphne blue, but anyway, the white with black pickups it´s beatifull, too.
The deluxe series rock!!

I have the same guitar in Daphne Blue, and I love it so much I hardly ever put it down. The neck is amazing with its rolled fretboard edges and perfectly smooth frets. I'm surprised Fender isn't making this guitar in Mexico, putting their name on the headstock, and charging twice as much for it. It's that good! With the Classic Vibes getting all the attention lately, the Deluxe is a forgotten treasure.

Here's mine. The only changes I've made are replacing the string trees with Fender American Series string guides and swapping the pickguard for a Fender Highway One guard because the original had a dent in it when I bought it.

Just an update...

I started this post and have owned the Strat for about five months now. It seems to keep getting better and better. The basswood body seems to give this guitar a little more oomph in the bass than my Hwy 1 Strat. I also really like the "Duncan Designed" pickups.

Since I'm new to this discussion, I want to first say to ALL of you:....Squier guitars are just about the same as the higher end American & Standard series, the only difference is the choice of colors, the types of woods used, and the pickups. Having said that I've been a Squier guitar player since they first debuted. And I won't lie....there WAS a point in time when they weren't "all that"...but through the years I've seen this brand go from "garbage class"...to "garage class! I have owned (and STILL own!) a Cyclone (black)....'51 (blonde).....Espirit (walnut satin)......Affinity strat (galactic purple).....Standard strat (black & chrome).....Standard tele (brown sunburst).....Affinity tele (butterscotch blonde) and finally the vintage modified tele thinline (shoreline gold) It's just a shame I don't have pictures of all these guitars sitting together all at once. But they have all served me well.....there were very few modifications I had to make to any of them....all of them got new pickups from various vendors...Seymour Duncan....DiMarzio.....Lollar......Joe Barden....and GFS...(my favorite of the entire group...) Other than that...these guitars all sound and play ALMOST on a level equivalent to the Am. Std's....the vintage"es...and the deluxes out there. When it comes to Squier...you can't go wrong....good looks great price...and AWESOME tone!

Here's mt Daphne Blue Deluxe as she looks now with her upgraded bridge. I prefer the vintage-style bent steel saddles over the new block style, and a friend have me a great deal on a new Mexican Standard tremolo. So I took both units apart and installed the MIM saddles and full-sized block on the original Squier two-post bridge plate. The trem arm is from a Mexican-made Vintage Series 50's Strat. This is the last guitar I'll ever need, and it's my keeper!

These are ALL gorgeous guitars, I think I feel another case of "G.A.S." coming on,.....so I'll be headed to the Guitar Center here in NJ to see if I can't get a hold of yet another Squier, and maybe even a "boutique" overdrive pedal....anyone have any suggestions on the pedal?....I heard BBE has one that's not too bad, then there's also uhh...Barber Electronics?....

I had a squire deluxe strat in daphne blue, which i wanted to get scalloped, i owned it for two weeks, and it got stolen. I only played it three times because i didn't want to damage it before i had the work done to it.

Did the pickguard swap out? Mine is warped slightly to the right (as you look at it) or the selector switch. I could lose a pick up there!

Yes, the Highway One pickguard lined up perfectly with the original screw holes.
