EDIT: forgot to add clips!!!

Btw, Hi! I'm new to the forum (joined yesterday) and just thought I would share my great success with my squier strat. It plays better than a lot of other guitars I have tried!

Ordered a complete wiring upgrade kit from guitarfetish.com
= About 25$ shipped to Canada

Put in Premium vintage single coils from guitarfetish.com
= About 60$ or so dollars shipped

So for under 100$, if you are willing to do the work yourself, you can upgrade your squier really well. In addition to upgrading electronics, I also blocked the trem as I do not use it anyway.

I did the wiring myself, and even put in new wires, etc.
The pickups were put in first, about a year ago, before the wiring was even done. The guitar sounded A LOT better than stock, but when I had the opportunity a couple weeks ago, the wiring was replaced. I must say the new wiring has made the guitar sound even better.

So, I decided to put in a wiring schematic called "blender wiring" where you have a master volume, master tone, and the last knob is a blend knob.
When you have neck or neck/middle selected, you can use the blend knob to blend in the bridge pickup as wanted. When you have bridge or bridge/middle selected, you can use the blend knob to blend in the Neck pickup.

Here is the schematic if you are interested:

The following clips are with all knobs on ten, and I can get lots more usable tones playing with the knobs.

I am running the guitar straight into a VisualSound Jekyll and Hyde dual overdrive, and then plugged straight into the "line in" jack on my computer.
I used the free software "audacity" to record the file. :) And even added a touch of ambient reverb for the second clip.

It doesnt sound too bad I guess, considering the equipment I had to use.

Running this thing through my marshall dsl50 sounds even better, but I dont have a mic to record.

Is guitarfetish.com cool? How was their shipping and handling. I'd like to get a Floyd Rose trem that everyone else is selling for a lot more. I also checked out their Jackson/Ibanese bodys not bad cause they are already routed for the Floyd. Saves a lot of work. Too bad they don't have Jackson necks. These are probably all seconds from Fender anyway so it is not like we are leaving the Fender brand. 8)

Thanks for the wiring. I'm sure it will help a lot of people but I'm more of a set everything on 10 and go kind of guy. That's why I can't play an LP.

Wow, you went way back for this one! I didn't even remember it.

Btw, I ordered from Guitar Fetish and they were very cool. I got a very nice tele humbucker bridge for my home made guitar. Still not finished but maybe some day.
