What would a fair price be for a Stagemaster 7 string? I saw one today for the first time.

Just curious

Welcome to the forums......
Ebay has 2 right now. If you can get it for under $300. I'd say do it.
Thay are a once in a while find but not "rare" like everyone always claims.
I wouldn't mind picking one up for myself in the future.
I hope you fing what you are looking for.

I bought an Epiphone Les Paul Standard 7-string on a special sale from Sam Ash. That was about 8 years ago, and it sounds great! Not easy to find strings, though. D'addario has them for both my 7- and 12-string.

I have to stand corrected... As an avid 7-string player, I CAN say FOR A FACT that ANY of the Fender 7's ARE RARE!!! Just like the Les Paul 7's, they're going for more and more money as time goes on because they don't make very many, and they get hard to find because people look for them high and low. However, if you know where to look, you can find them for cheap on places like Ebay, craigslist and various other places like yard sales, flea markets, ect. Hell, I am going to pick up a Stagemaster 7 for $40, just because the kid needs to clean house and needs money... people do desperate things in desperate times, and selling gear is no exception to that.

And to "sammyselmer", there are more and more strings out now for the 7 than I think you realize... I use the Ernie Ball Regular Slinkys (10-56) for my standard E-E w/ the low B and half-step down tunings, and then I use the Power Slinkys (11-58) for my D-D w/ the low A to compensate for any slack in the string at such a low tuning. GHS makes a 7-string set, as does Dean Markley and DR. It's all in what your preference is...

I am writing to see if ANYBODY has any kind of specs and pics of the Stagemaster 7's, the fixed bridge one preferably... I can't play Floyd-equipped guitars due to smashing my knuckle off the lock nut when I slide back up to the low end of the fingerboard. And besides that, the Floyd is too much of a pain in the $@! to keep tuned and set-up right. I have always gone by the saying "K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple Stupid". Not knocking the floyd or those who love the trem, but it's just not for me and I don't care for the tone.

Anyone with any kind of specs and pics of this guiatr, please contact me by emailing to typhoon1820@yahoo.com. Thanks, and good luck "filmore174" in your search for that 7... If you got some cash, here's one you should NOT hesitate on:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320516002853

Squier Stagemasters/Seven Strings on on the ol' Epay all the time. Rare is a matter of opinion I suppose.
I do see them go for $150 easy. I put in an alert that notifies me when they are posted.
The custom shop Fender seven is a very rare bird.

I have a Dearmond S-67 seven string (w/ Seymour Duncan Invaders), a Squier VII Stratocaster, and a Schecter Gryphon 7.

I have to say I like the Squier Strat 7 the most....after I threw in the dimarzio's....
If you need specs on the Stagemaster, ask Fender support. When I get odd ball or one off Squiers/Fenders I email those guys. They are pretty cool about it.
They have sent me original wiring schematics and parts lists.

You will pay a little more for the Epi's but just about every other weelk you can compare the $$$$ to get an idea. Good Luck-N 8)

Yes... I have actually owned 2 out of the 3 different Les Paul 7's (Classic, Gothic, not the Gold Top...) AND I have owned the '58 Flying V 7 as well. The only problem I found with the Epi's is this - the Les Paul necks are too baseball bat-ish, and the v & Les Pauls have a short 24 3/4" scale and the frets aren't as big as I prefer. I've always had Ibanez's and ESP's at the time, so the neck was more normal for that kind of guitar in my opinion...

You also mention that you put a set of DiMarzio's in your Strat 7... What did you put in it?? I have found the Tone Zone 7 and the D-Activator 7 to be the two really good ones. I've yet to try the X2N 7, and considering it if I don't use the Duncan Blackouts in my Strat 7 (Phase 1's of course!!!).

And lastly, that's the same Strat 7 I posted about on Ebay... It never went so he relisted it... I'm shocked that nobody jumped on that thing... If I had it, I would. BUT, since I got my hands on one - and by chance a GOOD one, I'm gonna roll with this one as my new project axe. It's got the blue-ish finish but has knicks all over it. I'll be stripping the finish off it, and leaving it natural with the black hardware. Much cooler looking, and will be a one-of-a-kind afterwards!!! Will keep you all updated!

I agree...I like the Ibanez and Esp's necks over the epi 7's.
(I'm a hardtail fan over the trem's.

When I first got the Squier Strat VII, it was in mint condition. Hardly played
and a hardshell case...(wait for it)...........$170.00.
In the pic you can see the finished product.
T o answer you r question, I went with the Dimarzio Evo and Blaze set.
Basically the Vai set . I kept the 3-way switch and wired her up with some silver solder. It is the stuff they put in conputer wiring.
Great conductivity!
I absoloutly love the sound of this thing. I can play ANY style of music on this guitar.
Good luck on your project RI7stringer, let us know what comes out of it.-N 8)

Thanks JK26,
I like the Stagemasters ...you got a good deal.
I bought the pickups off of ebay, $150 for the set. Dimarzio Blaze and Evo. (The Steve Vai set). It sounds amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The pain was wiring them to a 3-way switch.
My Strat VII was made in Indonesia.
It took me a bit to find one, but I really lucked out on this.

My Dad has a 7 but he swapped his low E for a bass string and with a bass string on the 7th he can use those 2 and a thumb pick for a walking bass line. Works for him but I never got the hang of it - can't get my thumb to cooperate.
