After purchasing and being so impressed with my MIJ black 92 ,I decided to hit Fleabay for another, some excelent offers, some for big money ,I went for a faded cream/blonde strat and won it for a excelent £165! 8) ,same price as my blackie. It has a hot rails fitted bridge so thats getting ripped out for a bare knuckle [or a set] and I should be good to go.

Does anyone know if there any major differences between them, there are 10years apart after all,I will be able to tell you myself soon ,just ecited and wanted 2 share.

Also the serial number 4 my blackie in only on my headstock and not on the bottom/back of the neck? is that normal?

Thanks :D

Congrats ASMEC1 (I was watching it also) :D Nice guitar m8. I also have a mid eighties squier owned since new, serial E9##### and I have to say the sound from this guitar is as good as any american strat I've heard, it's just so creamy (ideal for those gilmour solos) just pure quality only problems with mine are the pick-ups are faded to a cream colour (gives it the correct patina (age)) and I managed to knock it off the top of my amp onto a concrete floor many years ago and damaged the paint at the bottom(DOH!!!). I would deffinately buy another before I'd waste £400-500 GBP on a later american or mexican strat.

Mine is totally stock, I have had no reason to mod it, I think it sounds better with many years under it's belt. It has the original tuners, I am not sure what brand they would have been but they have the fender scroll on the back of them, it even has metal rollers set on plastic posts on the string guides near the front of the tuners instead of just metal guides. It just oozes quality, you won't be disappointed.
The pics are in this thread HERE, I am afraid I kinda hijacked his thread  it's the lake placid blue one. It all still feels tight but needs a new whammy bars due to the threads getting stripped. It just plays like an old friend so natural and effortless, using elixir nanoweb coated 9's.

Thats a nice strat mate, what kinda stuff do you play?

I think its going to be difficult 2 match a single coil 2 replace that hot rail stuffed in my 84-87 so I might have to change all 3,maybe go bare knuckle, the PUPs in the 92 here are awesome.

I'll post some pics if anyones interested when I recieve number 2! :D

Yeah man, maybe you're right about the pick-ups. Maybe I am just lucky I left it alone for so many years.
I play a lot of Dave Gilmour / Floyd stuff, a bit of Metallica (Nothing else matters) Gary Moore (Still got the blues) Randy Rhodes (Dee) Satriani (tears in the rain) all the slow moody sort of stuff :D.
I left the elctric guitars alone for a while and went back to my roots with the acoustic.
I got a bit of a guitar fetish tho  Currently I own a early eighties Fender F-65 dreadnought, Ozark cutaway semi, Big Baby Taylor, Taylor ns34ce concert grand classical, Epiphone SG-G400 Les Paul custom, Epiphone Les Paul special II, Crafter Bass, just purchased a silent guitar (check out the yamaha silent guitar on youtube class!!!!) and the eighties squier (gave it to my son for last christmas which I regret a little although I still get to play it and he looks after it) and just bought him a Dean dimebag Darrel and my little girl a pink encore strat for christmas. So you could say I have a few guitars around the house. Effect are a couple of eighties pedals and a zoom505 and a zoom g7 (awesome).
What you got then, I noticed you said you have the 92 and now the 80's, any others? What sort of stuff you play?
If you decide to sell the hotrails and the price is reasonable let me know.
Thanks
Lyn

I just got back into playing "lead" a few months back,I was a nasty widdler about 12years ago then I got into Jimi and reggae [and other stuff  ] and my playing opened up and I got bluesy then I finally moved onto making music with PCs and playing bass,I'm into making my own stuff but I've put that on hiatus til I'm better then I want to make something funky,Jimi with Stevie wonder type funk, slighlty tall order but hey, worth a laugh! :D

Am partial to abit malmsteen and classical acoustic stuff also.

I'm budget gear only so apart from my 2 new purchases I have my starting guitar a Sunn mustang from when I was 16 battered to hell and I have the budget yamaha classical acoustic + steelstrung,a honher bass and a SGC nanyo [japanese company] bass thats great.

I think I am going to benefit from getting both strats professionally setup, theres a good guy local, tempted 2 bare knuckle both guitars,no cash at the min thou.

FX wise I'm rebuilding my collection,at the mo,a fuzzface& vox wah but the wishlist is for a Rotovibe[had 1,sold it....argghhh] a EH octaver ,some kind of compresser& a tube screamer.

Just using a baby 15w Ibanez 80s combo but it sounds great,I have to get my early 70s soundcity 50w repaired, been dead for 8years but it used 2 sound unreal.

I'll let know about the PUP ,I know I'll never use it but only thing is I wouldnt know what make it was exactly or is hot rail the make? clueless with humbuckers, are u UK?

Thanks

I think the hotrails are duncan items. As I say if you wanna shift them let me know as I may have a project waiting in the wings.
I am in the uk m8. I assume you are as well?
If you want my email address or number drop me a pm.
Thanks .
