Hey all,
Last week I saved a Vista Series Squier'96 Subsonic from the wall.
I was doing some guitar tech work for a friend of mine and he mentioned he picked up an "ugly" "cheap" guitar that he planned to sand down and decorate for his girlfriend as a gift. I asked to see it, and had to have it.
There is NO way I was gonna let this beauty go to the wall. She is pretty beat up cosmetically and needs some love. So I made him and offer.
100$ and a Gibson USA humbucker. Yeah....I think it was a great deal and he was happy about it considering he bought it for 40$...lol.
So I need to fix her up and take her apart and clean her. She is a silver sparkle finish, V serial number, and the 50th sticker still on the headstock.
I know these were only made for 2 or so years..If anyone has any specs on this beauty please any advice would help. It looks like we are going to have to repaint (original restoration) her and I am looking for as much info as I can get. Pics to follow, Thanks!

Hey BastardN, nice to hear from you. I Googled your guitar and found Wikipedia with some specs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squier_Super-Sonic

The article mentions a Joe Carducci from Fender that wanted a guitar like Jimi Hendrix's left handed Jag. Maybe you can find a bio on him and find out what he's been up to. He might be reachable (is that a word?) by e-mail.

Anyway, glad you got the guitar cause now is the fun part. So take your time and find out as much as you can. I also thought about the tech at Stewmac as a possible source since they are big Fender fans.

Don't forget the pictures,

Mustangtoo, Thanks for the info.
Always great to hear from you on the boards!
I hope you are well.
I checked out the wiki site and it was great for facts.Every bit helps.
I am still debating weather to fully restore her or clean and do the basics.
The "Vintage " look is in....lol....
I will post pics of the SuperSonic soon. The idea I found one so cheap and not on e-pay is very refreshing.
