 I just bought a "mini player" guitar with a built in amp. I didn't expect to clean a sound with a 9 volt battery, but when plugged into an amp it will only overdrive. There is no clean sound to it. Is this normal? Inside there is a purple wire from the circuit board that seems to go nowhere. Could this be the problem? Can anybody tell me where to look at a wiring diagram for part # 0300105506 online?

Find the wires to the pickups and hook them up like a standard strat per customer support wiring diagram. You can also run them straight to a jack and then to your amp. The onboard amp is probably overdriving your other amp. Apparently they didn't wire the guitar to bypass the internal amp. Also try taking out the batteries.

Good luck and hope you buy a Squier full size strat. You already have the amp. Go for it!

husher,

I had the same problem, but it got much better when I replaced the battery.

I'm new to the hobby, but I'm guessing they've wired it such that it requires the built-in amp to be on in order to use an external amp. We picked up a nifty spider III 15 and I was a bit miffed that I need to have the internal amp on for it to work.

Does anyone have a link to the user manual or wiring diagram for this (mini-player 030-0105-506 ) ? ...44406
