Hi guys,

I just recently bought this Affinity Squier strat off of ebay. I am going to us it as a project guitar, so I will be having it repainted, probably some new pups in it... I thought squiers had the big oversized headstocks? Did I get a good deal for a project guitar? Thanks!

Not all Squiers have the big headstocks. But you got it for about $30 less than what most online retailers charge for it, its a pretty good deal.

If you were unsure of whether or not its an Affinity, you really should have asked before you won it, and if you were still unsure, I wouldn't have put an offer/bid on it

I know that it's an affinity, that's not the point anyway. I just don't remember seeing affinity strats with a classic headstock shape. All of the ones I have seen have had the large 70's headstock. I bought it to mod so it really didn't matter what it was. Just wanted a Fender.

I have two '98 Affinity Strats, both with smaller 50's headstocks. I made the mistake in another post by referring to the big headstocks as "canoe paddles" so I don't want to offend anyone again, but the smaller design is much more streamlined and "original" looking. It's a more subtle change from neck to headstock, not as smooth as a tele headstock but still looks like it belongs there. To my eye, the newer, larger ones are visually offensive (to my eye, again).

"The Canoe Paddles" are usually refred to as the 12 string headstocks. Chances are you've picked up an older Affinity or an SE.

I thought the 12-string's headstocks were referred to as "hockey sticks".
