Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I am just starting to learn play the guitar. I found a Squier 51 at a small town music store for $49.00. It is in brand new shape. I had a friend check it out before I bought it and he loved it. Have to find a low cost amp. So now I am going to try to learn how to play it. Any way, just wnated to say hi.

Congrats. I (and many other folks) own Squier '51s. They a good in-expensive guitar. I have a Black one that I picked up for $100.

Welcome to the Fender Forum. This is a great place to exchange info, and pick up some knowledge.

I'm a re-learner of the guitar - I have started to play again after 30+ years away - it's a great learning experience, and I'm have lots of fun.

Once more, welcome.

Congrats and Welcome. Have fun, practice, and most of all, have fun...

GilJanus, I sort of did the same thing, I started playing again 3 years ago, after not playing for about 8-10 years, but prior to leaving for awhile, had played for about 10-12 years...

Congratulations on your great find! The Squier 51 is a highly sought-after instrument for a lot of folks on this forum. And you got a screamin' deal.

I'm a pretty new player myself, having bought my Squier Standard Stratocaster in January of this year. I'm still not very good, but I'm having a great time.

Enjoy your Squier, and welcome to the forum! 8)

If you are going to go with a low cost amp, go with the Roland cube 30 or a Spider III amplifier. Have many diffrent sound and tonal options built right into them. Good all around beginner amp. Been playing for 28 years, you? :? :)

I'm not sure how you define inexpensive, but I just got a Super Champ XD. At $300, you can get nice amps for less, but the XD should be pretty versatile and something you can grow into. Overall concensus is that they're good not only for home practice, but might get you by at band rehearsal when you get to that step. You can also mic it for live performance!

I'm another used-to-play (30 years ago) who's getting back into it, so my other reasons for liking the XD are vintage tones, but with DSP, and lighter weight.

There's also the Vibro Champ (I've seen those for $229), with a smaller speaker and lower output power. You still get the DPS and somewhat less weight. I tried both in a store and concluded in my case that the money savings were outweighed by the increased versatility and larger speaker of the Super.

Let me add too: welcome to the forum!

Oh I Hope you enjoy it as I had enjoy mine.

Me and my father both own over 30 Guitars, and after a 6 Years of playing. I find it way more entertaining to shred with a guitar like this. Its funny that I came upon this thread. At the moment im customizing mine. With beautifull new pickups. Im not sure which to use at the moment.

Hope you enjoy learning. Once I first picked up my first Guitar which was a Yamaha CM40 Beginner pack which I named Conor (Yes I name most of my own guitars.) I couldn't put it down.

Zippo.
