8) I have a Jagmaster, 5 Squire Strats, Squire B.B tele w/Bigsby, Blacktop Strat, B-T jazzmaster , '65 Fender 12, '71 Gib.335, '65 " REAL" Epi Casino, and 17 other axes, some classics, some Imports. All the axes are modded to some degree. the Jag-Master is neck p/u coil tapped, roller string trees. I like mine!! Plays as well as any other ax I have. I used to be a guitar shop owner, so all are Set-Up pretty well! Jus' Sayin'! :)

I recently bought a Jagmaster - It is a very nice guitar - my first Squier but not my last. I have had a couple of Fender Strats (Classic Player 57 and an early 90s MIM) the neck on this Jagmaster beats them both. I bought the Jagmaster because I liked the look of the offset body and I wanted a 24inch scale (which now I've tried, I really love). I also like the look of the Jaguar so I got out my tools and hacked away at the scratchplate and remodelled it to look more Jaguar like with the addition of a few pieces of aluminium plate. It now looks the dog's bs (that's like - really swell - great - fab - tidy etc) depending where you're from. I would include some pics but I just joined and don't yet know how to do that!!!

Welcome to the forum Micky. I too have a Jagmaster and I love it. It is my first Squier, but it has started a Squier addiction.
Here is a link to a thread on how to post pics.

Hi Yodacaster or is it just Yoda?

Thanks for the info re posting pics - here goes [Imageimg][/img]

Hope it works!!

Just had a look at preview and that was ok

Half intending to do more work on it - need to find some way of stringing from the tailpiece (not much bothered about a trem so that is now blocked on bridge) I have had some thoughts - 1. drill and through body sting on the tailpiece plate in place now, like a tele - 2 buy a jag trem unit and discard the trem bit - but that would need some invasion into body. I would also need to raise the neck as the action is low and the rear of the trem bridge unit (where adjusting screws are) would foul the strings before they reach the bridge proper. I really don't want to have to change the bridge. May just leave it as it is for a while - I think it looks better than the original!!! Guitars eh! Don't they just grab ya!!!!

Looks cool. I don't know what you could do with the bridge plate. I think you'd end up with more hassles than its worth.

Latest on the Jagmaster - not that anyone is interested!!!!

The neck has been shimmed to get a little more height and tilt. The old trem unit and bridge have been removed. I have fitted a string retainer on the tailpiece. I am waiting delivery of a new bridge and the job will be done. I will have a Jaguar(looking) guitar for the price of a Squier Jagmaster plus a few quid and some work by me. I will post the finished pictures in a week or so

I put a Wilkinson Trem/bridge on mine and it really improved the sustain. Good to see another Jag modder on here. Good luck and keep the posts coming.

The new bridge arrived today - 3 days earlier than expected. So I set about fitting it. Discovered I could take out the shim from the neck and still fit the bridge and allow through stringing from the tailpiece. The strings now leave the tailpiece go through the back of a fixed bridge (sorta telelike back loading) and then up and over the saddles. A few twists and turns but it works. Took a while to sort it all out but now it's finished. One thing re sustain. When I first tried the guitar through an amp I thought I had reverb on but looking at the amp settings I hadn't - this thing just rings on forever. I wonder if it's the string between the tailpiece and the bridge - four inches or so vibrating freely in harmony. Thing is, I think that guitar tone is either luck or magic.

i picked up a jagmaster in a trade not too long ago. it is a sunburst color w/the duncan designed humbuckers in it. i'm not sure on the year..(its in the case upstairs right now) but, i believe it says crafted in china... i did a little set up work on it and i find that it plays very well. the pickups are ok for playing clean which i do mostly anyway. it seems to sound much better thru my tube amps more than my orange crush 10. among my other guitars i also own a deluxe ash stratocaster i bought new couple years ago and, i have just as much enjoyment playing the jagmaster as i do the stratocaster..

Yep!! These Jagmasters must be the best Squiers ever. Great neck, great pups, great shape.

I had a laptop laying around that was given to me and, a friend came over and asked me if i wanted to trade it for his jagmaster. I always liked the look of jagmasters so, i asked him where is the guitar? He said "it's out in the car" So, i told him to bring it in lemmie check it out. He brought it in it was in hardshell case. I pulled out the guitar and started picking around on it. Even tho it needed attention, (action was a little high and etc.) it felt great. It felt well built and, right off the bat i really liked it so, the trade was made and i did a set up and new strings and polished it up, it's in great condition body/paint wise. There's a few very dinky dings on the back but, you cannot see them unless you look very closely. I play the hell out of this guitar. would recommend it to any beginner or even pro players i know.
