there never was a jagmaster "I"

there were 3 jagmasters

1996-99 vista jagmaster made in japan right along side fender jaguars mustangs, and jazzmasters of the day very high quality
came in sonic blue, oly white, black, sunburst, and CAR
EDIT: 24" scale

2000-2004 jagmaster, painted in silver sparkle, CAR, and black made in ind/china lowest quality
EDIT: 25.5" scale

2004-present jagmaster II comes in white and black. medium quality
EDIT: 24" scale

I wish Squier would just make a normal Jaguar, it would be a lot more popular than the pieces of crap that they call Jagmasters now

Yeah I know what you mean, if they did, there would be no doubt that I would choose it over a Squier '51 which I'm hoping to get soon.

I think the OP is called it the JagMaster I since in some places I have seen the current JagMaster listed as the JagMaster II...Its been awhile since I have seen it designated as such, but I have seen it in the past before.

Jagmasters are great, they started my Squier addiction which was not cure until about 7 Squiers later...

I was just wondering why the 2000 - 2004 Jagmasters are regarded has the poorest quality. I have a 2002 black sparkle and it has a great neck (25.5 inch) and with a set of SD phat cats in it, it sounds fantastic. I believe it also has an Alder body where the other two short scale models have a basswood body. I have recently had it set up by a Luthier and he commented on how nice the neck was too. As a players guitar it is great.

the jagmasters made from 2002-2005, as well as the ones made from 2005-Present are considered the poorest quality based on facts.

they're made with cheaper quality components versus the vista's (96-98). the tuners are cheap, the neck's are cheaper, the pickups suck, and they're made in china. oh yeah, and the tortoise shell pickguard material is heinous.

the vista's are basswood bodies, and the CIC's are alder.

if you like it, that's all that matters. i have a vista (the first issue), and i've played a couple CIC's, and they're junk in comparison. they feel cheap.

I have not playrd a Vista Jagmaster so I cannot compare the different series. Although I was under the impression alder was a better wood than Basswood. At the end of the day I have made a load of mods to my Jag taht it is now a fantastic sounding and playing guitar. Thanks for the info

I think I have a Squire Jagmaster about the year 2000. It is gold flake/ Black and made in China. Any one know about this guitar and the current value? Thanks for your help. It is in great condition.
