breaking guitar is ridiculous .

Being a punk rock / pop punk/ grunge guitarist ... i gotta say that i dont share the behavior of 95 % of the punk philosophy and kid smashing and breaking guitar for nothing .

billie joe from green day have burn a guitar at the Edgefest couple of years ago .

i just hope one of these days these guys will burn their childhood , favorite guitar by mistake . :):)

Breaking up a perfectly good guitar.. :(

An idiotic thing to do even discretely. But bragging about it afterwards? Post again when you've grown up a bit.

stafford5150,

The next time you decide to buy a Squier Hello Kitty Stratocaster, let me know. I will pay you to send it to me and you can just say you smashed it up. I am looking for a good guitar to take apart and rebuild, and Hello Kitty will work.

It just seems like a waste of a guitar.

There's something wonderful in seeing how many people here have rushed to defend the life and value of a musical instrument. I never understood how many people could treat instruments with little regard. To me, they are alot like books. There may be 100,000 copies of "To Kill a Mockingbird" around, but there's no way I could ever bring myself to burn even a cheap paperback copy. Better to pass it on to someone...anyone, anywhere....who could be touched by it and respect the power of what its pages hold.
We musicians know the great power that music has to express our humanity and to bring people together....the universal language that can reach out to everyone. At some level, we recognize that there is something sacrilegious in destroying any instrument that has the power to do that. No matter what your instrument may look like, if we can use them to join together and create a chorus of music that, at the end of the day, leaves us smiling at each other and joining hands in the recognition of our common humanity....well, I think that's what it's all about.
And if having the picture of a cat on someone's guitar helps them get there, whether that person is 8 years old or 98....that's fine with me.

This looks so right including the pink strap! I think Fender is missing the boat with BucketHead.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with smashing a guitar, I have smashed 6 myself just for the hell of it, there is no better feeling then when a guitar goes from being kind of heavy to just holding a neck with strings attached to it. I seen those hello kitty guitars and thought they were awful. I think you should post pictures of it.

I could never understand how someone could destroy a guitar. I don't really care if you a "big name" on stage like Hendrix, Blackmore....etc. Smashing something that helped to get you to your level of success betrays something of "self-hatred" and thank-less-ness.

It would be instructive and just, that you were banned from having a guitar until you build a guitar equally as good as the guitar you smashed. Try carving out a neck and fretting it. Or cut out a body and build some pickups. Before long you might wish you had a guitar as good as the one you smashed.

Hmmm I own over 30 guitars...including a black Hello Kitty squier...I like the guitar. I won't knock ya for destroying it...... its your call....I have an 80's MIJ Squier (3 bolt R/W neck paddle headstock kinda Blackmoreish looking) that I've beaten the crap out of for decades so I cant judge.

I don't think I'll beatup the Kitty though.....she's just too damn cute  .

3 and a half years later and people are still raving, if this was a publicity stunt you'd be like the most famous person in the world right now, should've done it on youtube, called the video 'goodbye kitty'.

i made myself laugh yes.
