Hi there

My first guitar as a kid was an 86 or 7 Squier strat. Now my son has it. I was clueless when I was a kid, and this thing was a gift. So the tech stuff was lost on me—still is ti some degree. Not my strong suit. I always hated the locking nut and the fine tuners on the FR but I never did anything until the fine tuners finally stripped out in the 90s. Anyhow I changed the bridge at my local music store but now I’m hoping to get the thing back into as good a playing condition as possible fir my son, who now has this guitar.

What recommendations do you have for making this a more standard strat? Parts? Manufacturers? Take off the locking nut— although it’s not really locked anymore? Dare I say it? Give it a Fixed bridge? ( I know I said standard strat but I just mean to address the two sets of holes).

I don’t use the term arm on my strat plus, so it’s set up with the bridge flush( sorry fir the strat sacrilege)

The new bridge Required new holes so that’s already shot. I didn’t care at the time—had an 86 asat by then and just wanted this old strat to stay in tune as a backup. Before I take it for expert advice, thought I’d run it by y’all. Thanks!
