I have a Squire Affinity and there seems to be something wrong with the tension of the guitar. This is the first guitar I've had with a floating bridge and I wonder if it's something to do with this but I don't want to flatten it. Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?

A high e string bend of a full tone is possible from the 15th fret upwards, but below this it really feels like it's going to break. The b string can bend a whole tone but it's not doing a minor 3rd like my cheap Ibanez, which is also easier to bend in general. Both guitars have exactly the same Ernie Ball Slinky Nickle Wound 0.10 sets tuned to standard E.

There are 4 strings in the back of the Squier.

Here's a couple of pictures of the action and bridge

To me the pix indicate that the bridge is setup Ok, but the frets have been levelled and never recrowned. I've never played a guitar with flat frets, this could be your issue.

You are right and IMO frets are worn out, nothing to do with these. Neck need new frets.
Frets are the issue IMO.

LeeR did you buy this guitar recently ? Second hand ?

Thank you both. Much appreciated. I hadn't noticed this and nor did I know it could be the cause.. Comparing both of my guitars the frets are indeed taller on the Ibanez and they look flat as hell in the picture I posted.. I want to try some factory Fenders and Squiers in stores to find out just how different my guitar is.

Edit: Yes, (I didn't see your question there) I bought it second hand recently. I think I'll try and sell this one and put money together to get something that is set up nicely.

The guy sell the guitar because neck is unplayble, no more frets

This is good frets;
