I just came across a Korean strat with serial number CN5 XXXXXX (6 Digits). This is weird because there should only be 5 digits after CN5 if I am correct. If anyone can shed light into this then that would be great. Am I correct to assume 6 Digits after CN5 means it is a MIK 1995 squire? Protone series?

As always, dating by serial number is not an exact science and is seldom definitive. These charts are meant only as guides and, due to the absence of thorough and uninterrupted records, hence do not offer complete reliability.

A serial number alone doesn't tell much.
But the CN5 translating to 1995, Cort factory would be a good guess. CN5+5digits is common, but any surprises can turn up with Far East guitars, so CN5+six digits could be possible.

Guessing further, I don't think it's a Protone, but without specs&pics...
