Hi all, I'd like to replace some of the "weaker" components of my Squier Affinity Tele over time. Starting with the input jack. Despite tightening it a few times it continues to loosen up as I plug a cable in and out.

What do you guys recommend to fix/replace once and for all? Is there a higher quality component I can use here?

Here's the jack as it stands currently, I've lost one of the 4 screws as you can see:

I'm assuming since you've lost a mounting screw, that you've had the jack plate off the guitar and grabbed the back side of the jack with a needle-nose (or something similar) and held the jack tightly in place as you tightened the nut on the outside---making sure the jack and wires do not twist on you while tightening?

Even an "inexpensive" jack shouldn't be rattling loose on a regular basis when tightened properly.

Yes I've tried tightening it myself once. What do you suggest then?

I agree with White Dog that the original jack will do the job.

So to fix it:
Put a small drop of that plastic hot gun glue on the jack thread when you tighten the nut. Or more high-tec, use Loctite (the kind that you can reopen).

For the screw, replacements (same diameter, length, looks) can be found in any regular hardware store. Or ask a guitar tech in your area, if you want a guitar specific screw.

If the hole is too big, a piece of a toothpick/match with a drop of wood glue in the hole is the age old trick. Or the modern way, "laminate" the hole edges with rapid drying epoxy applied with a toothpick.

Just spinning that nut may spin the entire jack and accomplish nothing.
You have a lot of threads showing, so there is definitely room on the back for another nut and/or a lockwasher.
Pull the plate off and look on the back, if the jack is flat against the plate, you are missing a lockwasher that helps stop the jack from turning.
Inside star washer is what you want... not a split washer.
