I don't know. I'm old school, so I've also learned that "every player should learn to setup a guitar", and my mind still thinks that way.

But there are problems. It's real hard to do a setup if you
don't have the basic tools,
don't even know what a good setup is, and
want to learn to play the guitar, not to setup/mod/repair it.
Plus, for a first timer, it might take a r-e-a-l long time trying to get a Strat with a floating trem play right.
And then there is the lower threshold of using commercial services - some let a pro do even the string change...

I naturally support everyone trying to learn the DIY-setup tricks, but on the forum I recommend an "initial setup for a new guitar" as the first option. That's usually around 80€ in my 'hood.

And in addition to st52's list, it generally includes
- a full allround check; screws & nuts properly tightened, no defects (electronics working etc.), frets level check (the good shops/techs include fret polishing in the price, bigger fretwork goes under extra money)
- a nut slot check/adjust
- intonation
- pickup height
- lubing all string contact points
- clean/polish wiping as the cherry on top.

Oh, and this rambling is in general, it is not aimed directly to the OP or guitar(s) discussed in this topic.

Just what I'm saying - a tool set price and a book will get real close to a pro setup price...

But does somebody still read books? Better save the book price, use the web, and pay for better quality tools.

BTW, The Fender CS-branded tool set is over 50.

The price is for only for one set up
The set up could be not the better one for your playing ; which neck bow do you like ? some like stright neck other little concave 0.010" or 0.013" or ...?
Action; wich one do you like ?

Guitar may need more than one set up a year ; neck could move with season or string change

Too many wrong or incomplete information on web.
Book write by a pro ( see my links) are from I learn everything. I know it work.

Particularly intonation.
Every player has their own touch. How hard you press the strings, and where in relation to the fret, will impact intonation.
I have a very heavy touch, so you can hand me a perfectly intonated guitar, and it will be slightly out, the same effect as if the strings are high. Likewise, if I intonate your guitar, you may think it sounds flat.

So any time someone asks me to intonate their guitar, I do it, but I show them how so they can do it theirself. These are basic skills of guitar ownership, like changing your oil and pumping your own gas. You can save a little or a lot of money, and you know it is done to your preferences.

I'm not arguing against the basics; that players (in a perfect world) should be able to do the basic setup. I'm just presenting a reality check - a setup by a beginner player without the basic tools and skills is not easy.

I often use the phrase "a good setup is easier to maintain than create", which is why IMHO it's best if the first setup would be done by a pro. If a beginner then wants to learn setups, it's easy to tweak this & that and return to original. If he/she/it only wants to play, the threshold towards a yearly maintenance in the shop has lowered.

On the 'intonating by player's preferences and style', I disagree. That's something only a pro level player would even ask for, beginners don't yet have any preferences/playing style.

And the same goes with just about any "personal preferences" aspect with setting up a beginner's guitar - you can't set up by personal preferences if the beginner player doesn't have any. So the setup for a beginner's guitar goes by either factory specs or (better option) by what the tech considers best for the situation.

And on the "basic skills re: oil change", I believe the majority of car owners these days take their car to a repair shop when a 'scheduled maintenance' light on the dashboard tells them to do that...

But in general, a comparison (cars/guitars - owning/maintenance) is a good way to look at this. The trend in both is towards using commercial maintenance services.

Guitar tuning and more;

Perhaps the use or interest in working with tools is simply lost by lack of interest from the current generation?

With regard to the oil changes of a car would it be rather that people simply do not have a place to do it themselves living more in apartment or condominium ?
Including lack of interest in all manual work ?

Does anyone recommend good tutorial videos on YouTube etc? I will also need a video for when I need to change the strings.

Channel "Dave's World of Fun Stuff" is pretty good.
The guy videos mods, repairs, and setups. It can get a bit boring at times, but he's a good guy and does good work.

I would not recommend "Woodeso", he's OK, but I see a lot of mistakes, he strikes me as not having a lot of experience. He also bugs my OCD with how close he has the tail of the guitar bodies to the edge of his bench when he has the neck elevated.
Will's Easy Guitar (or whatever his channel is now) is good, but the guy is a bit of a jerk, and gets too involved in "youtuber drama", which has lead to "reporting wars" where someone insults him so his users start reporting videos and back and forth... his channel has been closed by YT several times, so I tend to avoid it.

Frudua is good but is some aspects controversial, and he really likes to strech his video lengths. Maybe save that one for later.

Fender's own YT-channel has some nice setup vids, but I haven't seen a complete start to finish vid, so you need to go searching for step by step pieces.

But here's one simple, all-inclusive and only ten minutes long setup:
