Hi everyone

I am a new member here, this is my first post.

I have been looking for a project guitar for some time now. I recently acquired a second-hand Showmaster HSS. There were no strings on the guitar at the time of purchase, I then took the guitar for restringing and setup to my local guitar-tech.

We then noticed that the strings didn't rest correctly over the neck (low E almost off the fretboard). We then realized that the Floyd Rose bridge was skew.

I removed the bridge, purchased a brand new Floyd Rose bridge and wanted the technician to install the new bridge. We then realized that the bridge post was skew, upon further inspection I found that the wood where the post goes in, was damaged.

I have attached pics of the guitar in it's current state (see link to URL):

Could you kindly advise if any of you have had any similar issues and is there a way to fix this or should I invest in another body (if available)???

Any advice is most welcome.

Regards
Brenn

If you think about getting a new body, I'm guessing it's one of the bolt-on necked Showmasters.
And in that case, couldn't the string/neck misalignment be fixed with just adjusting the neck in the pocket?

Anyways, now that the trem is away from the guitar, that post hole needs attention.

The quick fix is plenty of epoxy - not pretty, not pro level, not easy to repair again if needed, not guaranteed to hold foreva, but cheap & fast.

The proper fix is to drill/route the holes larger to accept an oversized wood plug, then glue it in and drill new post holes. Requires some woodworking skills & tools, but the end result is "good as new" and almost invisible if one repairs the finish, too.

Now, didn't the "local guitar tech" know about those kind of repairs..?
