I have a bullet strat made in china.....those are basswood and the pups are kindda dirty...I love the way it feels and plays, got it at a local pawnshop for 54 bucks!!!! I use it as my take along guitar now, although I dont see it as a useless piece of junk, it is a nice guitar. I think they also make for good platforms for mods, youll get souds that you cant get with other guitars, of course, because of the difference in tha making

I picked up my China-made Squier Strat two weeks ago and except for the clear laquer run on the back of the headstock she's a winner. Maybe I got one of the good ones as the frets are finished smooth on the edges, the fretboard finish is smooth, pickups sound really good, and the body finish is perfect. This guitar was bought mostly for the finish and the color-surf green or surf pearl whichever one she has. I also have a 2002 Squier Affinity made in Indonesia that I bought used and the frets were rough on the edges, wiring was crappy, wouldn't stay in tune even if the tremolo wasn't used(due to one of the tuners being messed up on the inside),pickups sounded pathetic, etc. This one has new Grovers, new pots, new 5-way switch, new pickguard, and new 57/62 pickups. I like my Chinese Squier so much the only thing I'll probably change on her is to put heavier strings on.
