I was given this guitar by a friend years ago and it's been sitting in my closet since then.

The headstock says "Made In Korea" and the serial number is "E748215". I am finding confusing information online about this, but at least one source said this guitar was from production year: 1984 to 1987 (Fuji-gen factory, Japan), (I assume the "7" means either 1987, and it was a Young Chang's Fenix brand guitars.

It seems like a very solid instrument. I only upgraded the pickups and pickguard (to black from 3-ply white).

Does anyone have any idea about this guitar's origin and it's relative value?

Fender Support pages/Dating Korean Instruments:
Although Fender began producing Fender and Squier instruments in Korea in 1988, its digital records only go back to mid-1993, with little if any information available on serial numbering from 1988 through 1992. It is accepted that there were serial numbers with and without letter prefixes at that time, but as definitive information is lacking, serial-number dating for Korean instruments made before 1993 is highly uncertain.

"E" was one of those letters Koreans used, so it's quite possible your Squier is from that era. Silver logo? One note, though: "E7" might not point to only 1987; there's quite a lot of confusion on these MIK's without any records…
Confirmation and more precise ID'ing would need a full set of pics - but even then it may remain vague.

Edit: Your pics came while I hit the SUBMIT button… Looks basically OK, but IMHO there are some mods/updates, like the string trees & probably the pickguard. Are there 11 holes underneath, or is it those odd sixties style (some say '62) models; rosewood/8-hole combo?

You asked about the value, too. Not a goldmine, not a minefield. Some sold for below 200, some asking prices up to 700...

I replaced the pickguard and pickups. There were 11 holes in the original pickguard.
The string trees were there when I got it.
