Only thing I can say about Squier pickups ; it is a ceramic magnet. Fender do not publish any other specs.

I'm wrong and Jmattis is right

Not so hasty. As always, expect the unexpected with FMIC...
The 2005 Frontline, page 94 (bolded parts are the same as in the brochure):
Quote:
The Squier Standard Stratocaster is a great playing guitar with a traditional vibe and modern feel. Recently upgraded throughout, these classics stand alone. Player-friendly features like a 22-fret fingerboard and a slimmer neck make for easier playing and choke-free bends. Plus, Alnico single-coil pickups provide plenty of punch! Choose from a maple or rosewood fingerboard. Available in Candy Apple Red (509), Cherry Sunburst (530, available on rosewood only), Antique Burst (537), Satin Pewter Metallic (543, available on rosewood only), Black Metallic (565) and Walnut Satin (592).

The magnets are Alnico 5.
And the guitar has a full size (agathis) body, with a two-point trem. It was a tough competitor for the (Fender) MIM Standards for those who aren't specific to the logo only.

PS: I haven't seen the OP's post before. Posted on Dec 13 2018 - did it really take this long to be approved by the moderators? C'mon...

Yep. While there isn't (and never has been) anything wrong with the MiM lines, Squier really did step up their game around 2000. I don't know if this was when they began to split the line (Bullet, Affinity, etc...), the move from Korea to China/Indonesia, or what, but there were a few Squiers that I checked out around '05 that were eye-openingly good compared to the plywood Korean Squier that I bought in '93.
