Did a search but not getting results I’m looking for, if this is been discussed a simple link will be great, I’m looking for any discussions on a safe storage of guitars, I’m not really looking for fire protection( which makes guitar safes so much more expensive than gun cases) just protection from thieves. A fire would probably wipe out house anyway. I’m kinda a hoarder having about 6 guitars before inheriting about 10 more from my Dad, most are $4 to $600 value but my Dad’s 1960 Strat , my great grandfathers ( who died in 1914) Parler guitar, my Les Paul plus a couple Gibson accustics I would like to protect with a gun type safe, perferibly in their cases, most gun cases only look like you could get 3 or 4 guitars /cases in them, just looking for members who are happy with their guitar storage, hate to spend $2500 for a guitar safe when it could get another nice Axe for that amount! Lol

I don't think most of us store our guitars in safes.
Honestly, anything under $2,000, is nothing more than a "residential security container" and can be broken into fairly easily, either with a prybar or cutting tools.

The most secure *location* for a safe is in a corner, with the hinges away from the wall. That helps prevent getting leverage on a prybar to work the door, and bolting it on 3 sides into a corner makes it more difficult to knock over.

You simply have to decide how much security you want to pay for, keeping in mind that an improperly located or mounted $10,000 safe is no more secure than a $500 safe.

As large as your collection is, you might want to consider a security door and building out the storage room as a formal vault. At that point, your hardware investment is relatively fixed for a small or large room, from there it's a matter of securing the walls of the room itself. Easy enough to line an interior room with cinderblock. More difficult to deal with windows.

Environmentally, guns and guitars like the same environment. Relative humidity in the 45-50% range and temperatures in the 70s.
