Hi everyone,

I purchased a Squier Vintage Modified 72 Tele Thinline today, and upon removing the pickguard protective film, another film layer began to come off. This was far thicker but I thought nothing of it as it came off easily and left no residue. However, now the pickguard is extremely dull and covered in scratches. Was I supposed to remove this second layer or was this what gives the guard its shine?

I never hear or see a film layer you should leave there.

Is it a Fender new sort of pickguard ? IMO no.

Your pickguard could be damaged at the building plant .......

Best is return to the store to show them before they think you damaged it.
