Wonder if Fender's custom shop has an Area 51 where they might be working on a bluetooth guitar. Think I'm crazy? Google it. Someone has a firewire guitar that looks pretty good.

How about the possibility of controlling individual string tone through a computer. EVH tried that for years with analog recording. The possibilities are endless.

You could play the guitar through any bluetooth compatible device.

Is this the next wave to catch?

well, that's an interesting idea. can bluetooth technology handle 6 channel output? EVH had the Ripley guitar w/ 6 discrete outputs but I don't think they were compatible w/ the Roland system which seems to be almost a standard in guitar synthesis lately. I thought the Ripley was fully analog, meant to go direct into the board while tracking, though the p/u's were pretty similar as far as separate coils for each string, the output wasn't converted to digital. get back to me mustang, it's quite an interesting idea...

Thanks for your interest ferretjoe, I can't remember the details of the EVH setup but I would imagine it was analog for it's time. I would have to research that. The Roland had it's own low impedence type pickup which had an apparent converter box for your amp. I remember the MIM Strat had a small skinny pickup next to the bridge.

The problem with bluetooth right now is the bandwidth which should improve over time but what got me started with this idea was the bluetooth hearing aids. (Imagine hearing a guitar, piano or an entire philharmonic orchestra for the first time!) Also the compatability to broadcast directly into any bluetooth device. The possibilities are endless.

Here is the site of the firewire guitar: http://createdigitalmusic.com/2005/10/0 ... ic-guitar/

From what I read Guitar Hero is bluetooth. Could this be a preview of what's to come in interactive web guitars?

I have no doubt that Fender is way ahead of us on this. I'd just like to hear R&D's ideas and what the future guitar will be like.
