I bought a Squier Classic Vibe 50's sunburst Strat this weekend. What a great guitar. I have 3 MIM's and 1 MIA, and this can hold it's own with all of them. The salesman told me that he was told that due to the positive response the Modern Players had received that the Classic Vibes would be branded as Fender also in 2019. It doesn't matter to me as it is a great guitar whatever is on the headstock. Just wondered if anyone else had heard this?

I've never heard about that with the Classic Vibe series, but who knows? I don't understand what would be the point of putting the Fender name on the headstock, unless they want to drop the Squier name entirely, and just have a budget series with the Fenders. I do remember they had that in the late 80's where the headstock said Fender on it and in small print Squier Series. I remember seeing those around back then.

His reasoning was to close the price gap between the CV and Standard MIM. The MIM is now $600 and The CV $400. Regarding Squier they still have some very nice guitars in addition to the Classic Vibe. Personally I doubt they will change the branding. The CV already has a great reputation.

I've never had any opportunity to play on any Classic Vibe instruments, but I have three Vintage Modified instruments, and I find them all to be excellent players. The only thing I've done was put a Leo Quan Bad $@! II bridge on the Jazz Bass I have, but I originally had it on another bass, which I just swapped it out with.

I remember seeing some youtube video reviews on the CV by Shane from "In the Blues" and from the insight he has had from Fender the Squire and especially the CV has develop a strong customer following and will remain a key brand for Fender. Things always change but the Squire brand is pretty established.
I love my CV 60's in 3 tone sunburst, you sure get a lot of guitar for the $300-400 price range from them.

The MIM is $600 which is 200$ more expensive than a CV. I think they still have good Squier guitars besides the Classic Vibe. Personally I doubt they will change the branding. The CV already has a great reputation.

So curious. For those of you here who have CV, how do ya like it? Just took the plunge into Fender/Squier Strats, I was debating hard on whether or not to get a CV 60'2 Sunburst, but am waiting now. Opted to grab an Olympic White Deluxe Hot Rails first (was the last one they had so grabbed it first). Still thinking of grabbing the CV 60's, just wondering how the pups are, neck feel, etc. Play primarily classic rock to modern rock/progressive/metal. Can get a open box CV 60's for $50 off atm. So basically $349.

Also wondering. Not wanting to hijack your thread here OP. Anyone here tried the Fender Texas Special Strat Singles 3 pup set?

Fender may want to move the production to Mexico and out of China. If they were only pressing out the same necks and bodies as the Mexi Strats and Teles and use cheaper Mexi hardware, it could simplify their product line and allow them to sell this as an upgraded line and charge a little more. It would be smart as far as business is concerned, though selling to China and countries in the region is big business for Squier, due to price point. Who knows?

With all of this tariff business going on between the US and these countries, I wonder how that all is going to play out? It might wind up jacking the prices on a lot of imported products. The funny thing about the Mexican plant is that it's only around 150 miles apart from the US one, unless they moved.

The CV Duo-Sonic 50s is one of the most playable guitars I've ever held. Excellent neck and fretboard. Originally I only bought one after I gave up trying to find an all-original '56 in Desert Sand for sensible money, and just wanted that vintage look and gold anodised plate. It's now my most-used instrument. (About to buy an Offset Series Duo, and hoping it's as good.)
