Back in late 91 I bought a brand new SquierII Strat and played the crap out of it for years. I moved on to "better" guitars but always held on to my Squier. I don't know if I lucked out but the single coils in it are the best sounding single coils I've ever had ( the bridge humbucker was a different story). Anyways I recently replaced the humbucker with a Seymore Duncan Alnico II Pro, replaced the tuners with Gotohs and did a complete rewire with new pots, cap and switch. So she sounds awesome again, but the trem block is starting to crumble. It's a six screw bridge with a 52mm spacing between the outermost screws. I looked at a Wilkinson and the screws are spaced a bit farther apart (which wouldn't bother me but the saddles are also spaced farther apart as well. Any one know of a replacement bridge or trem block that would fit?

(First, sorry for the late answer - probably the first post forum delay kept your message as hostage for a few days.)

Whoa, boy(/girl/other), are you in trouble...
All the info on Squier II (33-6000/6100) tremolos given officially is, it's "Vintage style". A specific trem assy part number, let alone the trem block dimensions and a suitable replacement block... no.

If that guitar was on my table, and the trem block is a) not working, and b) beyond repair, I'd start looking for a whole six screw trem assembly, with a suitable string spacing. A MIM bridge might be close enough, and they're available with steel blocks (PW-29). If the old screws don't fit, a plug/redrill operation would be the least hassle - again, IMHO.

I did this years ago to my squier II strat (E Serial). The import/asian spaced trem assembly from guitarfetish was a perfect fit.

You mean this one: http://www.guitarfetish.com/Made-in-Mex ... p_489.html

If so, my gut feeling about the MIM bridge as a substitute was right.

Man, they really hold your first post hostage! So I bought a replacement MIM classic bridge with the 2 1\16 spacing and it fits perfectly, except for the fact that the trem block sits flush with the back of the guitars body so the back cover touches it. Not a big deal as I blocked the tremolo many years ago. Now the only problem I have is my other guitars are being severely neglected!
Cheers! Scott

You actually use the back plate..?

Seriously, I love happy endings. Play on, play LOUD.

For others in the same situation, you could measure & post the body thickness - that's (one more) jungle with Squiers.
And, of course, at least one operative claims to have the solution: http://www.guitarfetish.com/Solid-Steel ... p_688.html
