Has anyone played one of these? They're an interesting looking set-up, but I've never seen one in person. How did it feel and sound?

These are very cool and very hard to find as no one wants to part with them.

Wish they would bring 'em back , but they would sell for $ 249-299 like the new Squire Strat and Tele's... They might throw a tone control on them to justify a price hike...

Good guitar I have one. I got the display model off the wall at the particular store I got it from. I never really gave the guitar a chance and then I looked up and saw it had a decent neck. Which is rare on a Squier. The electronics are not particularly great but they do ok. The body is thiner than the usual too. :)

I got mine in early 05, not my main guitar but I really like it, the neck on mine is narrower than my other Telecasters. I like the sound of it. Cant believe they discontinued it
I wouldn't part with mine...looks and plays like a much more expensive guitar

I've got one - a 2005 Black one - very nice in-expensive guitar - I paid $100.

The only mod I've done to mine was to change the knobs

Many other folks have done anything and everything to them. I should pick another one up someday.

I went looking on Monday evening and found just one on EBay -- guy wanted $275. There were none at all in the LA Craigslist. I'd just learned about these in this forum and now I'm intrigued but not quite willing (yet anyway) to drop $275.

A little while back I passed on a couple that were a pretty good deal. I'm starting to wish that hadn't happened.

Better hurry to the Pepcid and try to keep this GAS from flaring up!

I'm with you on that one. I was cruising around EBay and besides the 51, I also found someone selling a CIJ Thinline. A few comments about those I've read very recently suggested that they're well worth it. I had to sit firmly on my wallet ('til it hurt) until the GAS passed

I missed these! Looking online and seeing videos of them being played, my interest is piqued. I'd be curious to see how one felt.

However, I'm a rosewood fingerboard kinda guy. I wonder if I could piece something similar together myself? 51enstein.

I saw a really nice used one today for $130. I hear the tuners and the pickups are fair. I'm not sure I would want to put another $125- $150 into upgrades.

What was the original MSRP and what did they usually go for new? I remember seeing them, but don't recall what the price was.

i modified my sunburst 51, i took off the huge pickguard and moved the strap button, lowered the bridge and put some blue steels on it and now it plays like a dream. 51s are great!
