OK, a couple of Questions about a Squire Affinity package deal. First of all, where is the Affinity in the Squire pecking, best middle, lowest? Where is it made, this is pretty new as in less than a year old. $200 for it in a butterscotch, a 15wt Frontman, stand and gig bag. Good price or not? Thanks

Cheapest guitar, not a deal.

Amazon.com sell all the kit with a 10 watts Frontman $200 brand new

Actually, at the moment the Bullet series is "below" the Affinity series in the 'pecking order' (nice choice of words, by the way).

The "Butterscotch" tells me this is a Telecaster set, which is a wise choice. I often recommend Teles instead of the more complicated Strats for beginners. The setup is easier (one doesn't have to worry about the tremolo) and it's easy to get a good sound from a Tele's 2 pickups/3way switch combination.
Plus, a Telecaster is a "bulletproof" design - even the cheaper models play nice.

So, IMHO, if the price tag feels right, instead of hunting endlessly for the absolutely best deal, go for it.

The guitar is probably CY-serial (China/Taiwan/Yako factory), or IC (Indonesia), and the first two numbers should tell the year. Check that it works; jack OK, pots not scratchy, tuners rotate softly etc. And I'd suggest changing the strings and doing a full setup - unless the seller has just done those.

On the amp:
Frontmans are prone to break the input jacks, so check that this one's working. Also check for scratchy pots, and general condition - a one year old amp should be like new.
I'd guess this is the 15G model - you get sorta Fenderish cleans which are OK, but personally I just hate the Gain - same with the 15R model; the reverb is almost unusable. If you want overdriven sounds, get an OD pedal.

The bag is OK, but only gives minor protection - against dust & such, not against sudden impacts, temp/humidity changes - or younger siblings.
A stand... well, if you find it useful, OK.
Again IMHO, I don't give either of those much extra value.

One thing that's often real low quality on packs is the guitar cable, but a good ten feet braided cord is only about twenty $€£ (e.g. Cordial+Neutrik, Spectraflex etc.).

PS: Let us know what happens.

The Affinity can be pretty good if you're lucky enough. A luthier replaced tones, pup selector, and did fine tuning on mine. Now she's not so far from a standard one in sound, stay in tune without problem for a fraction of the price.
But I often see some at the music school that are liveless, heavy, unable to stay in tune more than 1 song.

2 Bullets, 1 Affinity, 1 Classic vibe, a Standard is on the way. All Strats and love them all! Common fact that the lower priced ones will exibit les than clean Fenderish bright tones. And yes, the tuners are not the best.
The above defects are also a big joy to many of us. For a small fraction of the cost of the higher priced made in the USA or MIM you have the basic form for your new dream rig. Though these solid body and semi's if your including the thinlines are relatively simple and easy to work on. The challenge is that set by your own standards of what you want and how it should sound.
I have converted HSS to SSS and vice versa. Don't care much for the fullness of humbuckers. To me happiness the twangey quack that only the single coils can produce.
Careful! If you decide to change over the neck-nut. Gently tap downward and from the sides, Cut any surface glue with razor knife. And gently wiggle the nut until free.
It doesn't take much to break free from whatever adhesive used. Personal experience has taught the lesson that it is unwise to tap upwards when freeing the nut. A small dab of varnish, shellac or wood
glue is more than sufficient to secure this replacement nut. One of my replacement nuts is bare and I am experiencing no problem that way at all.
Squires are fun to play with. I enjoy tweaking them and altering how they sound. My MIM Fender Roadhouse; I love this baby; But could never see doing to it what I've done to all my Squires.
