I am not sure why this post is under Squier guitars...
Click here, to watch & listen to an awesome song called.
Optimistic - Radiohead (live from the basement)
You can hear & see a starcaster like stefanrocks is talking about!

Also notice all the fender in the room with them.
I think all the guitars & basses on this song are fender.

Well if they came out as Squiers, instead of Fenders--I'd still have to check them out--I played one back in the late 70's/early 80's and wish I could have afforded it at the time.

Now, when you find them, they're even more.

Hello Stefanrocks,

Myself and many others will agree it's a
guitar they would like to see available again.

Make mine sunburst.

Cheers.

PS I'll buy one even if it's a Squire.

Two quick points:
1. I agree that the someone - either under Fender or Squier - should reissue the old semihollow Starcaster. Great guitar and too rare/expensive these days.
2. Stefanrocks and others are way too quick to dismiss the "new" Starcaster strats (they have been out for a few years). Just like any other Chinese Fender product, quality is admittedly uneven. But if you get a good one - it is a doggone good one! They are better than the Squier Affinity Strats by a long a shot and you can do worse as a beginner.

I learned to play on a "new" Starcaster strat and I still have it. It even has a birdseye maple neck on it - so it must have been a good day in China for me! Over the past year, I have dropped Schaller tuners and vintage Noiseless pickups in it and would not trade it for anything in the world.......
