I have never owned a Squire. When I noticed Classic Vibe Strat models, I became enthusiastic. I found a 50's Classic Vibe 60th Anniversary model that looks good. Aztec gold. Beautiful guitar. The "upgrades" include tex mex pups @ the neck & middle positions, plus a shawbucker @ the bridge. For $230 I PayPal'd it immediately. The pots are full size CTS, the switch is an Oak Grigsby 5 pos. w/ an orange drop cap, and a quality output/input jack. It's going to sound good. Someone who knows please tell me, do the Classic Vibes play well? I'm thinkin' that they can be set-up well & play well. Lastly, where can I buy an HSS white pearloid pickguard for this one? I understand that pickguards for all squires are odd sizes. Is this true? It probably is. There's always a catch somewhere just when everything else is just about perfect. I want to top it off with a quality, bright white pearloid pickguard cut for the HSS format. Can anyone help me out with this one? I know nothing about Squires. I'm going to believe that it's going to be a super playable and great sounding Strat. I am anxious for UPS to get on the ball. Thanks a lot, rednefelec.

Like on any aftermarket pickguard, the holes may not fit perfectly - but (plugging if needed) and redrilling isn't a biggie. You can even use a tapered drill if you're obsessed like me. BTW, this fits-but-needs-some-fixes feature belongs IMHO to pickguards, not to the CV series.
If you need to be as sure as possible, Warmoth has printable pdf's for comparison with their pickguards, plus their options list covers what you covet: Warmoth Strat PG

Another BTW, they ®'d Squier...

My suggestion would be to take the guitar to a couple of shops (that sell pickguards) and try one...you might be surprised. I don't know about the CV's specifically but the rumor that "ALL" Squiers use odd size pickguards and such isn't true. My '08 Squier Standard came with one of those mint green pickguards, which I really didn't like (looked like someone puked on it and didn't manage to clean it all off, LOL) and the replacement white pickguard I picked up from Guitar Center was a perfect fit...no redrilling at all.

A lot of the older Squiers are often hit or miss, but in the past decade or so, Fender/Squier has gotten a fair bit better about such things...it could be well worth a drive to a local guitar shop to check out.

Good Luck!
