Hi to All,
I’m working on a friends Fender Squire Strat that that he picked up at a yard sale. It’s an older Squire Bullit Series made in China with a serial number that starts with NC. I was able to get the neck and frets sorted out but the 5 way switch has me confused. It’s a 7 position switch instead of the normal import 8 position.
What’s going on is the tone control (closest to the input jack) that’s supposed to control tone on the middle pickup is acting as a volume control for the middle pickup instead. Everything else on the switch and the other tone and volume control seem to work as they should. The switch does not look like it’s ever been rewired the following is how the switch is wired,
Switch contact #1 white wire to middle pickup Switch contact #2 white wire to neck pickup
Switch contact #3 and Switch contact #4 jumped together with a red wire running back to volume control #5 switch contact (white wire) to neck pick up tone control
#6 Switch contact (green wire) to middle pickup tone control #7 switch contact white wire to bridge pickup #7 ground tab no connection.
Any help or ideals would be appreciated. I have pictures of the switch but the post doesn't give me an option to attach.
Regards
Dad Roadie

For the tricky pic posting on this forum, here's my sticky for instructions:
Quote:
First you need to upload your pics to the internet. Use a pic hosting site (imgur, imgbb or such - avoid photobucket) or some common web framework like e.g. facebook, googlephotos - whatever you're familiar with.
The important thing is that the web site provides you with a pic address - that's the one starting with 'http' or 'https' and ending in '.jpg' .

Copy the pic address, and use the IMG-command (visible when you write a message) on the forum.

Preview your post so everything is OK.

For the tricky switch, this link to that other forum might clear things up: http://www.squier-talk.com/threads/yke- ... rats.3299/

For the tricky tone-acting-as-volume syndrome, I'd first check/replace the capacitor.
