The current AV Series guitars are closer to vintage specs than the CS Time Machine ever was. The only thing I would like Fender to "adjust" on the AV guitars ('64 Tele & '65 Strat) is the thickness of the Rosewood on the round-lam fingerboards. It is too thick compared to the vintage ones.

Now the expectation would be that Mike Lewis would reply to that recommendation with a 'thank you' or something of that sort. I'm just wondering if the "Mike Eldred Experience'' hasn't put him off, or whether or not the 'suits' have told him, point blank, to stay off the line with us. If the latter might be the case, then, IMHO, the Custom Shop Forum is a waste of space.

Which puts the question: "If a tree falls in the forest, and there's no one there to hear it, does it still make a noise :?:

That could depend on the tree species...

Or at least the fretboard thickness might. Indian rosewood isn't nearly as hard as the Brazilian rosewood used in the early years was, which may or may not be part of the reason for the discrepancy. Since Brazilian rosewood (like ivory nuts) isn't an option, some adjustments might be beneficial even if not correct.
They're not time correct anyhow unless set up for thick gauge strings with a wound G, so Fender Custom Shop might not be too concerned about the guitars being identical, only that they look and play mostly the same.
Mike Lewis might be able to clarify.

Fender used Indian Rosewood quite early. SRV's famous Nr 1 a 1962 Strat had Indian RW and was used even more in later years.

Again, what's your problem with it, that you have to comment on it not just one or twice, but over and over again?

Yes, I like a quality whisky every now and then. 1976 Laphroaig for preference. It gives me joy. It's legal. And I've lived to be almost your age, sipping a good one every now and then. What's it to ya?
I'll share if you come up north, or get you whatever else you might enjoy, from milk to absinthe. I think you're a great guy, except for this obsession with my avatar picture. I'll change it if it means something to you. Really.

Well I like it. It's kind of hypnotic  Then again, I am a complete piss-head.

Have a great Christmas everyone.
