Why not come out with a Harrison or Lennon signature Strat or even a Mar Bolan? I would buy one of each! :D

You can, or could get, a "Beatle Stratocaster" from the CS, but I don't know about a signature model. That might be trickier.

That would be difficult, considering that they are both dead.

Dying does not stop having a guitar in their honor. I have the Marc Bolan Les Paul that came out a few years ago that I saw at the winter Namm Show, and it was great that Marc was honored and acknowledge. There has been a Jimi Strat and how long has it been since he died, or Stevie Ray Vaughn for that matter! It is showing that their talent is recognized and these artist are not forgotten, so I am still hoping that the Harrison and Lennon estates will have Fender put this Beatle Strat out one of these days, which I hope will not be years from now. :D

Hi motorcitychick,
along with what they (Fender) think they could sell.... one of the more challenging parts of doing a "tribute" or a "signature" is, if the person has passed, getting the family's or/and the executor's advice and/or blessing...and whatever legalities need to happen as well, can take some time and quite a lot of effort. Chances are, the bigger the star, the more difficult it will be as it is a very high demand permission to get (lots of people asking the families for stuff, I'm sure). The SRV was a nearly completed guitar that inevitably had to be "ok'd" by Jimmie and the Vaughn family...and it took some time and discussion. The George Harrison Gretsch---same thing.....much work and discussion with Dhani and Olivia Harrison .....much work to get it right...the legalities and then ....finally, the ok. The "Rocky" Strat (Magical Mystery Tour) which is pretty iconic, would be cool....but I have doubts it will ever see the light of day.... a John Lennon Strat (though there IS a John Lennon Ricky) may be difficult as Yoko is rumored to be very protective and John wasn't really "known" for playing Strats (except in the studio)...he played quite a few different instruments ( as did the other three).
Just my take...
All the best,
rob

Unless Dhani and Olivia authorize Fender to make an exact representation of Rocky for the general public - though they're plethoras of MIM Standards painted like the original circulating across eBay stores.

The only "authorized" Fender guitar associated with the Beatles is the rosewood Telecaster.

It didn't stop Hohner from selling John Lennon signature harmonicas last year. Granted, they might have found someone else named John Lennon to sign them, but...

And Fender even made some protos for a Jeff Healey signature model, which would have been doubly impressive...

I will be curious to see what will be shown at the Winter Namm Show at the Fender booth. I haven't gotten a wow factor from any of the guitars that Fender has shown at the winter Namm Show in the last 2 years. Just a rehash of the same guitars with a few tweaks to them. I am hoping for a Beatle Strat one of these days. :D

What would be special with these guitars? I'm not a big fan of doing signature model guitars for bone stock instruments. Now if they made a "Rocky," when then that's a guitar of a different color.

So far as is known, the Stratocasters owned by John and George were box-stock instruments in Daphne Blue until George OD'd on windowpane, saw god, and gave his the psychedelic paint job.

...giving birth to "Rocky".

Rocky was used extensively onstage and in the studio even after the band's split.

....the Firemist Gold Electric XII and the sunburst Fritz Bros Roy Buchanan Bluesmaster used extensively during the 1991 Japanese tour with Eric Clapton?
